It's all about the FLOOF

These Rollovers are out of control!!

Does anyfur besides me get totally annoyed about these rollovers ads? I can't stand them. There are three on every page and they are located so that you can't do ANYTHING without them popping up. They drive me nuts!

And it seems to me they are totally self-defeating. I am so sick of them that I shut them down the instant they pop up. I don't know what they say and I would NEVER click on one or shop there or give them any credit no matter how many coupons they offer, because they are TOO ANNOYING.

SayMedia must assume all the people on Catster and Dogster have super-state-of-the-art fast processing comfusers and home networks because these rollovers -- which are usually moving (all three of them at once) -- eat up so much bandwidth. A lot of people here are still on dial-up!

I doubt we will get rid of them, because SayMedia seems to think they have perfected the design. First it was Arm and Hammer, then it was something else I've already forgotten, and now it is this Dr someone about whom I will NEVER take time to learn. I can just see the little techno-geeks sitting in a little room wearing pirate hats and a patch or two, saying to each other, "Avast ye mateys, they can't get away from us, we have them surrounded on top, side and bottom of the page. Harharharhar." -- like it is so clever. NOT.

*heavy sigh*

Headbonks,
Junior Fluffkins

Junior Fluffkins we agree. We got so sick of seein' that Brad Pitt movie one that MC says she would never watch that movie! Our home pooter slowed down so much on Catster wif all these. Added AdBlocker but still so slow we never get on at home now.

Huggs,
Platelicker

It's crazy if we have to use software to get rid of the ads so we can see Catster better. No wonder there aren't too many new cats joining. It’s too hard to use and it’s no fun if you can get the program to run.

Also...

Sorry this is off topic but this is another reason some aren't joining... I invited one cat from You Tube but they declined because they were worried about one of the conditions for joining. Apparently it says...
"Catster.com's proprietary rights

By submitting, posting or displaying any Materials on or through the catster.com service, you automatically grant to us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, right to publicly display or re-display such Materials in other formats not simply limited to websites."

He then said..
The above means they own your photos and can publish books, calendar, greeting cards or anything of your photos for a profit and pay you nothing for it.
I can see where he’s coming from.
I think these guys would love Catster if it wasn’t for that clause and how it’s written.

I hope it isn’t the case and we the photographers retain exclusive right for our photos. I understand that Catster can use our photos in other things like newsletters, the front page and other things to do with Catster. That’s fun and used in good faith on the site we use. But to use our photos for monitory gain elsewhere I think would be wrong.
Am I wrong????????? I hope so.
Sorry to rant but it's been bothering me for some time now.

We use Firefox and it blocks most pop-ups but for some reason not these. I guess we will have to look into it further. Thanks for that heads-up!
