Can you help a shelter in need?

"The Montreal cat shelter Humanochat where those cats died (http://www.globalmontreal.com/recalled+pet+food+causes+two+ cat+deaths+in+montreal/6442643277/story.html) is throwing out all of their food now so they need donations BADLY! Mollie from poisonedpets.com talked with her over the phone and gave me this info: The lady’s name is Monica Campo at Humanochat in Montreal. She has over 300 homeless cats and barely any food because it was contaminated. She said no one cares (in Canada) and that I was the first person to call and offer help! Let’s prove her wrong that there are plenty of people who care!

From the article (the newspaper made a mistake it was Kirkland not cat chow): “The shelter has therefore had to throw away their entire month’s supply of cat food. Some of the animals at the shelter also got sick, and two died, though it’s not clear if they had salmonella poisoning. At the time, the veterinarian blamed gastro on the deaths. The recall has been problematic for the shelter. “Everything that was donated for us this month is gone. No donations. We have to go to the vet more, so there is more consultation,” said Monica Campo of Humanochat.

These Rollovers are out of control!!

Does anyfur besides me get totally annoyed about these rollovers ads? I can't stand them. There are three on every page and they are located so that you can't do ANYTHING without them popping up. They drive me nuts!

And it seems to me they are totally self-defeating. I am so sick of them that I shut them down the instant they pop up. I don't know what they say and I would NEVER click on one or shop there or give them any credit no matter how many coupons they offer, because they are TOO ANNOYING.

SayMedia must assume all the people on Catster and Dogster have super-state-of-the-art fast processing comfusers and home networks because these rollovers -- which are usually moving (all three of them at once) -- eat up so much bandwidth. A lot of people here are still on dial-up!

I doubt we will get rid of them, because SayMedia seems to think they have perfected the design. First it was Arm and Hammer, then it was something else I've already forgotten, and now it is this Dr someone about whom I will NEVER take time to learn. I can just see the little techno-geeks sitting in a little room wearing pirate hats and a patch or two, saying to each other, "Avast ye mateys, they can't get away from us, we have them surrounded on top, side and bottom of the page. Harharharhar." -- like it is so clever. NOT.

Say WHAT???

Well, I had my first taste of what life is like with Say Media and I don't like it. I came in to a Catster group and there in front of that group page was a "Lord and Taylor" advertisement blocking the page -- with "Say" in the upper left corner. I had to click X to move on past it. I don't need that in Catster.

I don't care if that is on my NYTimes online that I don't pay for but I pay for Catster and I don't want advertisements in my face. It's bad enough when I am in a party thread and some advert in the middle of the page of threads blows up in front of a picture someone posted, so that I can't see the picture. I expected that from struggling-with-a-low-budget-and-small-staff Catster to get that all wrong.

But this in-my-face advertising is NOT Catster, it's Say Media making a pointed, proactive programming gesture to put an advert in the way of my enjoying Catster. And I don't like it.

An important note! Help needed here...

Two terrible things have happened in America lately. First, the States of Idaho and Montana managed to slide some language into the Federal budget that would delist wolves from protection and allow them to be hunted in massive numbers. What in the #*(@ does wolves have to do with the US Budget? And because of the need to rush through the budget before a government shut-down, there wasn't time for anyone to raise red flags (and maybe no interest). THIS IS SO WRONG!! Read more here...

And second, the legislators of the State of Missouri decided to ignore the will of the people, to act as though voters do not matter, to go entirely against a significant majority of voters, and overturn Proposition B which was approved by voters last November. Prop. B provides protections for MO's huge and truly horrible puppy mill industry. MO legislators are obviously in bed with the owners of the puppy mills, because they voted to overturn Prop. B, make like the vote in November never happened.

PLEASE call your own elected officials and tell them you are appalled that Government is working this way and insist they work to reverse delisting Wolves because of the method by which it was done if nothing else. Also, call the MO Governor to express support for vetoing the attempt to overturn Prop B.
