Arrival Story:
When "mom" was 19 and had her first apartment, she really wanted a pet (besides her budgerigar), so her then-boyfriend and she went to the Humane Society. Cowering in the back of a cage lay Celie (then called Sugar), and "mom" asked to hold her and check her out. Celie wouldn't let go, so "mom" took her home. She got her name because of her resilience. Mom had just read "The Color Purple," too.
Bio:
Celie has had many homes and many roommates, both cats and humans. She's really adaptable to that. Recently, too, she traveled with us 2,000 miles (in the cab of a rental truck) to our new home in Seattle. She's a tough one.
