Arrival Story:
I stopped one night at a pet food and supply store to buy some toys for Daisy and while I was there I saw this cute tabby cat in a cage. He came up to me and meowed and flashed his beautiful green eyes and I couldn't resist petting him. He is so friendly and he just purred and purred. There was a sign on top of his cage noting that he had been surrendered by his former owners because they did not have time for him. I felt so bad for this kitty that I filled out an adoption application and was approved. His original name was Mayhem but I decided he looked more like a Stanley than a Mayhem. I brought him home with me about a week later and he is a real sweetheart though his sister Daisy doesn't think so. I hope they can learn to get along. She has been an only child for 11 years so this a quite a change for her. They told me if things just don't work out, I can bring Stanley back. I am hoping I don't have to do that. Update: Stanley and Daisy get along just fine and all seems to be well. Stanley is a very laid-back loverboy/mama's boy.

Bio:
So far, I like my new home. My sister Daisy is tolerating me much better. I like to chase her but Mom doesn't like this. Daisy told me how much fun it is to 'help' Mom in the bathroom and I do have to agree. There are so many things in there to do and watch. I must supervise her every bathroom activity to ensure she does everything correctly. How did she ever manage before I came into the picture? I have been helping my Mom with putting on her makeup in the mornings and have been helping to wake her up before her alarm clock buzzes. There is this thing in the bathroom called a sink, which I just love to drink from. I think that this is my own personal drinking fountain but Mom says it's not. Why can't I have my own personal drinking fountain? Mom always boots me off there so she can brush her teeth and wash her face. She is no fun at all! Why can't she just use her paw like I do? It works for me. My Mom also does something called 'showering' and she seems to like it. It sure doesn't look like fun to me. I wake her in the middle of the night for a 'petting fest/treatsie fest.' I lay on her chest and she pets me and I purr for her or Daisy and I wake her in the middle of the night and DEMAND treats from her. There will be NO sleeping until we have our 'middle-of-the-night treatsies.' I hope my Mom appreciates all of my help because I sure do like to help her. I just know that there are more things she does that I can supervise. I must do some more observation to find out what things she needs my 'help' with!

My trip to the vet

Last week Mom noticed some worms coming out of my butt and called the vet. They couldn't get me an appointment until today so we had to wait. Mom kept telling me that I was going to the vet but I didn't know what to expect. I was worried I was going back to that place and be stuck in a cage again. Anyway Mom came home for work early today and I was pleased to see her. She picked me up and put me in my cage and off to the vet we went. I don't mind the cage but I really hate riding in the car. I meowed the whole way to the vet's office. Once we were there I was a really good boy and Mom was very proud of me. I sat in my cage and was quiet while we waited for our turn. Once they called us we went into the room with the stainless steel table. I was very curious about this place and wanted to explore. When the nice vet lady came in, she told me how very handsome I was. Even the tech said I was a handsome boy. She took me and weighed me--I weigh 14 lbs. I have gained weight since coming to live with Mom. The nice vet lady looked me over and looked at my paperwork from the awful shelter place. She gave me a rabies shot and put some medicine on my neck for the worms. Next she suggested to my Mom that I have a test for Feline Aids and Leukemia. Mom asked what was all involved with that. The nice vet lady said they would have to draw some blood and run a test. Mom was hesitant but agreed to it. They took me to the back room and drew some blood. They brought me back to my Mom and told her I was a good boy and that they would call my Mom with the results of my test. I got back into my cage and we headed for home. The nice vet lady called my Mom later and said that my test was negative and that was a good thing. My Mom is very pleased and said that I don't need to ever go through that again. I am a healthy boy!!!!! After I got back home Mom gave me some treats for being a good boy today. I guess it was all worth it to get treats. I love treats!!! Now I am back home resting on the couch from my hectic day. Mom says I don't have to go back to the vet for another year. Thank goodness!!!!! Time for me to go and try to give Mom the guilt trip and maybe get some more treats.---Purrs, Stanley

Today is our Mom's birthday. Daisy and I tried to think of something special to get our Mom. Since neither one of us can drive we were pretty limited on what we could get. We finally decided we would get Mom up real early this morning so she could have the privledge of serving us breakfast in the morning. What better gift could a kitty give? We hope our Mom enjoyed our gift because we sure did. I did give her a birthday purr this morning and Daisy gave her a few birthday kisses. Happy birthday Mom!!!!!!

Our new cat tree

My Mom is so nice! She purchased a cat tree for Daisy and I. My Mom spent a lot of her hard earned money to purchase this tree for us. She set it up in her bedroom in hopes that Daisy and I would have fun playing on it. She was right-Daisy and I love playing in the box that the cat tree came in!! We take turns jumping in and out of the box. Our Mom is the best! It is a nice big box and nice and deep. Mom keeps telling us that she didn't purchase the box for us---she purchased the tree. Daisy and I think it looks really nice in the corner of Mom's bedroom. My Mom says if we don't start playing on it, she is going to use it for a plant stand. We say, as long as she doesn't take our box away we will be happy. Please Mom, please don't take our box away!! I don't trust her--I must go and 'guard' the box. Daisy and I take shifts protecting our new toy.

Purrs---Stanley Manley (box boy)
