Arrival Story:
I adopted Babes from the Humane Society of Baltimore County when she was 7 months old. I saw her in the middle cage with a brilliantly colored label that said "Snickers." Reason for being put up for adoption: "Urinates outside the litter box." Well, her brilliant yellow eyes connected with mine and a feeling of warmth came over me. Then suddenly, a staff person opened her cage and handed her to a tall man with a very loud voice. He held her in one hand right underneath her front paws with her hind parts just dangling, and repeatedly said "This cat will go with my furniture", meaning she was a good color match. I thought to myself "please don't let this man adopt her"! I expressed great interest in Babes and talked to the staff person and filled out the paperwork. Several days later they called me to let me know I was her new Mommy! When I picked her up, I could not keep the smile off my face the entire time we drove home. She was an adorable gray fluff-ball! That was 13 years ago, and we are still together. I changed her name from "Snickers" to "Babes". By the way, she never ONCE urinated outside of her litter box in all the 13 years she has spent with me. She was also the best Mommy to both Bubba (RIP 2/17/04) and Leo (RIP 4/17/07), 2 younger male boys I had since adopted. They both are at Rainbow Bridge, Bubba died at age 7 and Leo died at age 4... Babes is 13 and she outlived both of them and is still going strong. I know she will be an excellent Mommy to the next baby I bring home, when the time is right.

Bio:
Babes is so soft and silky, you can barely feel anything when you touch her fur. She also smells very good; it's hard to describe, but I'm sure all cat owners know what I'm talking about! Whenever I feel sad, I put my face in her side where it's so puffy, and the combination of her smell and the sound of her purring so contently takes away all my worries! Today is 11/21/12, and I am here to inform my Catster friends and document that Babes passed away 5 months ago one month shy of her 18th birthday. She had ongoing urinary tract infections uncontrolled with medication. She also had a thyroid condition. She lost a signifcant amount of weight over the last year of her life, and then one day, suddenly, she could not see anymore. She became blind. I felt the humane thing to do was put her to rest. I had Babes for 17 years, since she was 7 months old... and I have such fond memories of spending time with her. I feel like she stuck by me through thick and thin, and loved me unconditionally. She will remain in my heart for an eternity. I hope we will be reunited at Rainbow Bridge when it is my time to go.

Babes' favorite song::
This is the song I sing to her every day when I come home from work: "Hamela Hamela where are you, Hamela Hamela I Love You"! (very silly, but direct and to the point))! It just "goes" with her!
