Arrival Story:
Beowulf was the first cat I ever owned and the best thing I can thank my ex-husband for. It was his idea to get a cat as he was tired of seeing me grieving when our gerbils passed away and said cats have a longer shelf life. And so began my love affair with cats which has lasted even though the marriage didn't! She was a kitten of a friend of a friend of a friend's cat, etc.

Beowulf is extremely hardy- she is nearly 15 and has never been sick a day in her life and she survives the torture of living with and raising 5 boy cats. We call her a nun because she gives an extremely disdainful look whenever anyone does something she disapproves of, which is often. She's a quintessential Virgo and is very proper and fastidious and rightfully the Queen of the cat clan in our house. She is wonderful with people, even strangers, but barely tolerates the boys and is at the heart of every fight that starts. She will scream at the slightest provocation and is very good at playing the victim which had us all fooled until we caught her in the act of deliberately provoking the boys. We call her the "Twisted Sister" because of her markings and rather perverse nun-like behavior. Beowulf passed away just after labor Day this year at the ripe old age of nearly 17. She's now our kitty angel.

The Perils of Being a Lady

It's hard to be a girl

It's hard enough to be the only girl in a house full of boys without this nonesense of war and struggles for power. It's just too much testosterone in this house. Eddie is an impudent brat, tho, and my hope is that Opie will put him in his place. Someone needs to tell him that being all orange doesn't make him special. I am far too old to have to deal with all this nonesense, but if need be I will support Opie as he has always defended me from the other boys, even when I have been the instigator, heehee. Afterall, girls just want to have fun.
