Am I the only intelligent life around here?

It would appear that war has been averted for the moment. Surprisingly, the mutant polypod supplanted Eddie in the bed tonight and I was disappointed to see Eddie back down without offering a shred of resistance. Not the kind of behavior one would expect from a future leader. Zeke would never challenge my place on top of Mom, but he appeared to have no qualms about challenging Eddie. While I did not directly intervene in this matter, I am dismayed at the outcome since it does not serve my interests in any way and was far too peaceable a resolution to provide any entertainment. A few carefully chosen words whispered in Eddie's ear at the right moment should suffice to foment the rebellion again. Perhaps when next there is an altercation between him and Beowulf, then Eddie will be ripe for battle. I will watch and await the moment...

The winds of war

I smell war in the air and will not pledge my allegiance to either side, tho they both think they have my support. Hah! Eddie is promising me more time with Mommy and that once he is in charge he will rid me of Daddy, my rival. While the offer is appealing, Eddie does not possess the strength or the intelligence to accomplish that as I myself have been unable to rid our household of "Daddy" despite my machinations for lo these past 10 years. I will never understand why Mommy needs Daddy when she has me, but since she insists on keeping him I have resigned myself to this and made my peace with him. Still....Eddie's offer is enticing if he had the ability to make good on his promises. Opie, on the other hand, has been a true and fair leader and I have no quarrel with him. He is welcome to be in charge as I have no interest in the mundane affairs of the others and their petty squabbles over yogurt and the like. I have far more important things to concern myself with. Opie promises to continue to take care of the day to day business which allows me the freedom to pursue higher endeavors and concentrate on more important matters. He also promises that if he defeats Eddie, he will appoint me as his advisor, his "Merlin" so to speak, and he will bestow upon me the title of Knight. Hmmnn, Sir Floyd. It has an appealing ring. However, common sense behooves me to negotiate with both sides and cast my lot with whomever emerges victorious. I will watch and wait and see which way the wind blows.....
