His Daddy

Favorite Toy:
Anything with catnip, laser pointer

Favorite Nap Spot:
On top of Mommy, directly on top of my chest within seconds of going to bed

Favorite Food:
Catfood, no table scraps for me!

He is able to irritate and annoy his Father with no effort at all, psychically knows when Mommy goes to bed or takes a nap, he can also open cabinet doors by pulling on the latch and he can open a pocket door all by himself!

Arrival Story:
Floyd was my divorce present to myself. My ex-husband would not let me have any more cats and the day after he moved out I went to the SPCA and got Floyd. He was my first boy.I named him after my Father because he was so smart and I figured my Dad would be too flattered to yell at me for getting another cat.

Floyd hates his new Daddy and makes up terrible stories about him even though his Step-Daddy has tried very hard to be friends with him. Floyd insists on sleeping directly on top of Mommy every night and refuses to use a litter box. He prefers a comfy chair as his toilet instead and when we have tried to replace his chair/toilet he chooses a new one. Thus, we are keeping the old furniture until Floyd passes on. He now has a chair that belongs solely to him (who would want it now anyway?) and he does try to accomodate us slightly by trying to use the "incontinence pad" on his chair. It's easier to wash and cheaper to replace than the entire chair. We also have a ceramic effigy of him placed on the chair to warn unfamiliar visitors to avoid sitting in his chair. His behavior has cost him several of his lives, but we love him anyway.

It would appear that war has been averted for the moment. Surprisingly, the mutant polypod supplanted Eddie in the bed tonight and I was disappointed to see Eddie back down without offering a shred of resistance. Not the kind of behavior one would expect from a future leader. Zeke would never challenge my place on top of Mom, but he appeared to have no qualms about challenging Eddie. While I did not directly intervene in this matter, I am dismayed at the outcome since it does not serve my interests in any way and was far too peaceable a resolution to provide any entertainment. A few carefully chosen words whispered in Eddie's ear at the right moment should suffice to foment the rebellion again. Perhaps when next there is an altercation between him and Beowulf, then Eddie will be ripe for battle. I will watch and await the moment...

The winds of war

I smell war in the air and will not pledge my allegiance to either side, tho they both think they have my support. Hah! Eddie is promising me more time with Mommy and that once he is in charge he will rid me of Daddy, my rival. While the offer is appealing, Eddie does not possess the strength or the intelligence to accomplish that as I myself have been unable to rid our household of "Daddy" despite my machinations for lo these past 10 years. I will never understand why Mommy needs Daddy when she has me, but since she insists on keeping him I have resigned myself to this and made my peace with him. Still....Eddie's offer is enticing if he had the ability to make good on his promises. Opie, on the other hand, has been a true and fair leader and I have no quarrel with him. He is welcome to be in charge as I have no interest in the mundane affairs of the others and their petty squabbles over yogurt and the like. I have far more important things to concern myself with. Opie promises to continue to take care of the day to day business which allows me the freedom to pursue higher endeavors and concentrate on more important matters. He also promises that if he defeats Eddie, he will appoint me as his advisor, his "Merlin" so to speak, and he will bestow upon me the title of Knight. Hmmnn, Sir Floyd. It has an appealing ring. However, common sense behooves me to negotiate with both sides and cast my lot with whomever emerges victorious. I will watch and wait and see which way the wind blows.....
