Eddie can wrap his paws around your neck and hug, instantly able to dispell anger or a bad mood in anyone else with a single kiss, he also likes to wake me up in the morning when I oversleep by swatting me in the head repeatedly.

Arrival Story:
After we lost our beloved Wally, we were desperately in need of an orange boy to fill the void and when we saw Eddie at the SPCA we fell in love the moment he stretched up to put his paws around my neck and hugged me like a boa constrictor!Eddie is truly an angel cat (note halo above his head in picture). We've often thought that he could stop wars if everyone could have a cat like him.

Eddie is #4 of 6 cats in his household. He has held the #1 place in our hearts uncontested ever since he arrived. We think that "Eddie" is the most frequently used word in our house. He is very jealous of his brothers and he strongly dislikes his sister, Beowulf. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body, except when it comes to Beowulf. He loves his Mommy best and dreams of becoming a hydraulics specialist. He also assumes the role of "Litter Patrol" and monitors everyone who uses the litter boxes to insure that proper decorum is observed.

There I was,all snuggled in bed and sound asleep between Mom and Dad, and that stupid, nosy Zeke lifts up the covers. I immediately got a draft and saw that mutant with his multi-toes staring at me. If that wasn't bad enough, he then makes his way under the covers, thinking to share my spot between Mom and Dad. Well,I do not share and being too sleepy to start an argument, I left in an indignant huff. Would you believe that brother of mine actually slipped into my spot, purring madly the whole time, and stretched out his long body and went to sleep? I was furious and even more aggravated that Mom allowed it. All the more reason to start planning my takeover. I will not tolerate this disrespect any longer. I'll put that polypod mutant in his place along with Opie soon enough.

Cold Weather Cuddles

I just had to write today about the pleasure of snuggling with Mom and Dad when the weather gets cold. Being a short-haired cat, it is always a struggle to try and stay cozy once the weather gets cold, but i have found the ultimate solution. I love burrowing under the covers between Mom and Dad which is where I sleep now all night long. I have learned to time my arrival shortly after Mom and Dad go to bed but before they fall asleep so as to insure I get maximum attention. I have had to train them to lift the covers for me and they finally have learned that my appearance is the cue for them to move over and make room and invite me under the covers. It took several weeks of diligently swatting them in the head before they finally were trained and now Mommy finally knows enough to bring me to bed when she goes to sleep so I don't have to wake her up as she falls asleep as soon as her head hits the pillow. Daddy is another story and it requires more persistence on my part to train him as he can be rather stubborn and oblivious sometimes. A swat on the head is still often required for him. He has accepted the fact that if he insists on keeping the house temperatures below my comfort zone, then the price he will pay is to accomodate my cold pawpads on his back until I thaw out. Mom is far more perceptive and will massage my ears until they are toasty and she will pet me until I drift off to slumber. There are a few problems, tho, that I need to address and correct. My brother, Opie, insists on sleeping on daddy's pillow and laying his head on top of Daddy. This would not be a problem except that he snores and this disturbs my repose. Zeke, on the other hand, is gradually learning that I do not welcome his presence either on top of me or under the covers with me, and is beginning to sleep on top of Daddy or next to Mom. He also has finally learned that I will allow him to cuddle with Mom on her lap when she is on the computer as long as I am occupied elsewhere, but now knows that if I want Mommy's lap he has to leave. Floyd, on the other hand, is a bigger problem. He seems to believe that because he is older he has more rights than I! He insists on sleeping on top of Mommy, which I will permit, but he needs to stop trying to knead the blankets once I have settled into position. If he continues to persist with this nightly ritual I will need to take aggressive action as my beauty sleep must not be interrupted. My sister, Beowulf, has already felt my wrath, and Peter, being the youngest understands the meaning of respect as long as yogurt isn't involved. Soon, very soon, I will overthrow Opie and be in charge.
