Arrival Story: One of my sixth grade students found a pregnant female cat and took her in. When the kittens were born, her family kept one and found homes for the others. Unfortunaley, the mother cat whom they were planning to keep and neuter ran away. I brought Cruiser home as a playmate for my other cat, Ronnoco.

Bio: Cruiser's birthday is March 15 -The Ides of March. Cruiser is a very gentle and loving cat. Unfortunately, the other cats tend to dominate.
After 16 1/2 wonderful years with me, my beloved Cruiser (aka Doozies) crossed over the Rainbow Bridge this morning. He passed away while being examined at the veterinarian's office. Cruiser, who once weighed over 20 pounds had lost quite a bit of weight between his last two yearly check-ups which took place during the month of May. Although he still seemed to have an appetite, he seemed to be drinking quite a bit of water lately and also appeared to be having some difficulty breathing. I took him to the vet this morning for a check-up and was told that he had lost 2 more pounds ( weighing in at around 11 pounds) and was wheezing, but that his heart seemed alright. We feared a thyroid condition. Unfortunately, the stress of having blood drawn was too much for my beloved Doozies and he passed away during the process. I am comforted in knowing that he knew I was there, as I was singing his special song to him to calm him down. In an attempt to revive Cruiser, the vet administered a shot of adrenalin and even performed CPR, using both manual compressions and mouth-to -mouth resuscitation. Unfortunately, he was unable to revive Cruiser, as Cruiser's lungs had filled with fluid. Cruiser is now with his beloved "Brother", Detail, who passed away at the age of 13 on 9/5/09. My dear Doozies will be greatly missed.
