Arrival Story: I volunteer at our local shelter, and because of my medical background, I was asked to assist the vet when the shelter's only vet tech is unavailable. About a year ago, I adopted a three-legged kitty who stole my heart, so when Rocky had his amputation, I was naturally the first person they thought of when it came time for him to go home. Unfortunately, my husband was insistent on "no more cats", so Rocky went home with the vet as a foster. When the vet went on a well-deserved vacation, I persuaded my husband to let me foster the kitten, so he started out in a large dog crate in the garage. Two days later, hubby moved the crate into the front hallway, "so he'd have company and be able to see us", and two days after that, I came home from work to find Rocky out of the crate and chasing my other cats (this was, as he put it "to socialize him with other animals and make hime more adoptable"). When my vet friend returned from vacation and my husband asked when I was returning the kitten, I finally had to tell him that Rocky wasn't going anywhere; that he had found his forever home. After the initial argument that ensued, followed by a couple days of total silence, he caved in, and now loves Rocky almost as much as I do.

Bio: This little guy was brought to the shelter where I volunteer at about 9 weeks of age with a severely injured right front leg. It was on a Saturday, and the shelter vet just happened to be there that day. When he was examined, he had no pulses or sensation in the leg, and the flesh was infected and necrotic, so the leg was amputated at the shoulder. Despite all this at such a young age, he is very loving and sweet. He gets around quite well and loves to play. He is also a snuggler and loves to be held and petted.
