Arrival Story: Gretchen is my mother's boyfriend's kitten. He happily adopted her, and they love each other very much.

Bio: Gretchen came into our clinic (I am a veterinary assistant) several months ago. She had been mauled unexpectedly by her old family's dog, and had been at the emergency center. The dog fractured the left side of her face, so badly that it was deemed unfixable, even by the emergency center doctor.
The doctor at my work is a very good person, and she did her best to wire her jaw, but her bones were too small. So, as a last-ditch effort, she straightened the jaw and taped it tightly. When she awoke, she was in such pain and so lethargic, we didn't know if she would survive.
Needless to say, she turned out to be a fighter and made it through. Her owners rightfully decided to let us find a new home for her, because they worried about how she'd get along with their dog (who caused her injury). The dog is fine with their other cats, and they've had the dog far longer than they had her. She lived at the hospital with us (happily for us) for a week or two before I told her dad about her. After he met her, he knew they were made for each other.
She still has a little difficulty opening her mouth all the way (which is why she is a bit dirty from having trouble eating, but she gets towel baths regularly with her new dad), and her left eye is irregular, but she is just like any other, playful and loving kitten. She is a wonderful girl, and all who meet her, love her.
