Arrival Story: My son brought Carolina home as a kitten. She was the offspring of one of his friend's outside cats.
My two sons had a room in the basement and they kept her there for the first several weeks of her life because at the time we had another cat who was quite territorial ( and had no "maternal instinct"!!). I wanted to make sure that she was of a size to hold her own when they finally met.
I didn't know that she'd come with "passengers" and when I went down to the basement very shortly after she arrived, I found that we'd been invaded by fleas!
That initiated a flurry of flea banishing activity, including full scale bathing of all animals (not a pretty sight!) and the introduction of Carolina to the upstairs world.
She and Kitso (the aformentioned "other cat") worked out their relationship and lived together with Lassie, our dog until Kitso died and we moved in 2001.
After we moved to an Co-op apartment on the 10th floor (no more backyard), Lassie died and for two years Carolina was the sole animal in the house.
In 2004, Meka, my assistance dog arrived and Carolina graciously accepted him, with the understanding, of course, that she is in charge (her legacy from Kitso).
They get along very well!

Bio: Carolina, after starting out as a skittish little kitten has become more and more sociable as she's matured. She has also become quite vocal and has a favorite spot in the hallway to vocalize.
She is frequently waiting at the door when Meka and I come home .
