Arrival Story:
Unlike the other three cats, which were found, Sable found us. She just waltzed up to my aunt and uncle's porch one day as they were outside, and made herself at home, laying down and even allowing my then-four year old cousin to pick her up and hold her. Figuring that this little gray cat was owned by someone due to the dirty nylon collar she wore, my aunt put up "Found" posters to see if anyone had lost a cat. When no one spoke up after a time, my aunt brought the little cat to the vet where she was given a clean bill of health. Unfortunately, my aunt was unable to keep the cat because of Fritzi, their temperamental elderly cat who pretty much ruled the roost there. We offered to take the cat we'd dubbed Sable at least temporarily - and wound up as her forever home. Sable adjusted to the house on the very first day we brought her home, acting as if she'd lived there her entire life.

Bio:
Sable was a very curious and dominant cat who liked to be wherever the action was. And if there isn't any action, she was bound to try and create some! Always looking for ways to keep herself entertained, she became fast friends with the momma and son pair, especially Maus who she wrestled with and followed around constantly. There was not much you were unable to do with Sable, as she was extremely tolerant of roughhousing, and even enjoyed it! Sabes played with Chloe too, though Chloe would sometimes get irritated by Sable's seemingly boundless energy. In addition to her playfulness, Sable was a very vocal cat who enjoyed keeping a running commentary of her day. Unlike most cats I've heard, she trilled and "chirped" more than she would meow. When she does meow, it's of a soft quality, though she would raise it to a yowl on occasion when there was something she really wanted. If Sable could be described in one word, it can be this: Purrsonality! Sable was constantly looking for ways to get into trouble and often "recruited" Maus to pad after her as she sought out something naughty to do. Generally when there was a crash somewhere in the house, or something in disarray, Sable was the culprit! Despite her penchant for trouble-making she was really a very affectionate cat. She would come when called and would follow the humans of the house around to get attention. She was also a lap-cat and, when she was comfortable, would sometimes nurse on an offered hand or arm. Sable was also very good at knowing when there was food, and would come running from anywhere in the house when she heard a plate being put down. In the end, her former life as a stray caught up to her and what started as a simple case of the sniffles would result in a diagnosis of FELV. She lived four healthy months after her diagnosis before passing on April 6th of 2009. She was a very special cat and is deeply missed.

Yesterday was two years since Sable crossed over to the Bridge. It seems like it wasn't so long ago.

You are thought of every day, our little Staple. Not a day goes by where we aren't reminded of you in some way, whether it's some little thing one of the cats does, or seeing some fun new toy that you would haved loved to play with. You were with us less than three years, but your short time on earth left a massive hole that will never be filled. You were a one of a kind kitty and are terribly missed.

Funny how things work out.

A few days ago was the annifursary of my gotcha day. I decided, since my human meowmy was so sad, that I would work my angelkitty magic and allow for her to adopt two vurry special kitties.

Their names are Helene-Iris and Gabielle, and they spent the bulk of their lives living happily amongst other cats in a cat Sanctuary. Unfurtunately, the Sanctuary could no longer operate, and all of the kitties there had to find furever homes. I knew my human meowmy was missing me, so I arranged it that she'd rescue not one, but two kitties! They are sisters and are a lot like me in many ways! They both are talkative - that was a must, mol! - and like to play and climb on things. They arrived yesterday and are still getting used to their surroundings. Once they figure out that the den is now "theirs", they'll be posting on their journals!

Gotcha Day..

Today would have been the third anniversary of my Gotcha Day. My human meowmy is sad today, because I can't be there to celebrate, but I am watching over from the Bridge. Three years ago today, I was saved from a life wandering the streets, alone, cold, and hungry. I had a great life, though it may have been a short one. I put a lot of living into those three years!
