Selina is Home. Such luck must be mentioned. Her story told.

When my 8 year old, indoor-only-prior-to-moving-switzerland Balinese Tortie cat named Selina went missing 7 days ago I fell apart. Each day that passed meant less chances we'd ever find her, or that she was even alive. Every minute of the day we listened for her cry, we called her name, we thought she'd be simply there the next time we looked. She wasn't.

POSITIVE NEWS:
Day Seven-Tonight wanting only to crawl into bed early and weep, my husband talked me into getting dressed and going with him in the car with our dog. Simply to get out of the house.

We drove around without any real destination in mind. Roads twist and turn here in Switzerland- often extremely narrow and unpassable if a tractor is coming from the opposite direction. We drove past a million mousing cats, dairy farms and the like and then found outselves in a large non-populated forested area, approx 2 km (as the crow flies) away from our home, higher up the mountain. My husband Ron slams on the brakes thinking he spots our cat. Immediately parking the car (practically in the middle of the road) he dashs out. Its her and she's freaked and non-responsive. Hungry. Tired. Lost. She recognizes nothing, no one and says nothing. Hardly the vocal siamese we know and love. I help catch her and hold her close to me, petting and comforting her and us, while we headed directly home.

WHAT HAPPENED? WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED?
We figure, as her outdoor experience is pretty limited (3 months with in-out access), that she must have been spooked by either the workers that were here or a fox or something. We don't live especially near a main road but with all the tractors working in the fields hay-collecting we were uncertain as to whether she was simply still alive. Selina always kept within sight of home so perhaps we'll never know?

NOW:
Home again with much petting and lots of food dish visiting, I am positive that she will regain the 2-3 pounds she'd lost. I only hope that she recovers and will once again be the little bundle of energy/joy she's always been.
