Arrival Story:
Mattie looks so sad in his photo! But you see, Mattie was rescued from a hard life on the streets of Chicago. He was probably bitten by another street cat who had the FIV virus and then passed it on to Mattie. Poor sweet Mattie has now crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge. I should have tried harder to save his life and to find him a good home, but instead I allowed him to be euthanized because it would have been too costly to rehabilitate him after he was diagnosed with an infection. I stayed with him while the veterinarian ended his life and cried while he took his last breath.

I'm so very sorry to have let you down, Mattie, and I hope you have forgiven me. I also hope you were comfortable while you were fostered in my friend's home and that she took good care of you. I love you, Mattie, and I will always remember you. Rest in peace, sweetheart.
