Well it appears I have something called Feline CRF, which means my kidneys are failing. My human was told this isn't noticed by symptoms until the kidneys have lost 70% of their function. At first my humans thought I was not going to beat this disease, as the blood test results weren't good, but I'm fighting back. I've not made almost 16 years to throw in the kitty towel yet! I don't like the treatment, bad enough I have to get this special diet, which at first I didn't like at all, plus 3 oral medications, but worst of all I have to have I.V. fluids every day. I don't like that I.V. needle being stuck into me, and I'm so tiny, just over 6 pounds, and they give me 100ml of fluid every day. WOW, that equal to a 200 pound man drinking a half a gallon of water all at once, and in less than 2 minutes! Try that tough guy, bet this little 6 pounder can out do you taking in fluids. I look kind of funny after I get it, I have a little pouch for a while till the fluid absorbs into my body. Don't you go gettin' all teary eyed on me now, my human has done enough of that! You just watch, 16 is pretty good, but I'm going to make 20---WATCH ME!! So, my kitty advise to all you kitties out there, tell you human that along with your yearly check up and shots, ask for a mini blood profile, it's not very expensive, and this will tell your Vet. a lot about your health, plus anything that might be starting to happen to you will be caught early. My buddy "Q" had diabetes, and I'm sure it could have been caught a lot earlier too. So give you kitties the gift of good health, one little draw of blood once a year, and don't wait till your baby is a senior cat, start today! Marsha...

I know it's been a long time since I made a diary entry but I've been kept very busy. Remember my Christmas wish, for a new little brother, well I got one, but he didn't arrive until Jan. 8th, and he's a real pain in butt too. He's on "MY" Catster account already too, boy he's really trying to take over! He's that thing they call a Siamese, and he can get anything he wants from Meowmee just by flashing those big blue eyes of his. I must admit, he is a handsome devil, but I'll never admit to saying that. Can you believe someone lost this boy during the hurricanes in Florida last year, he would have only been a couple of months old too, poor thing he must have had a real will to live----probably just because he knew he'd have an old girl like me to torrment! Ahh, he's o.k. sometimes, he's only 10 months old so he's getting better, but also getting strong and harder for me to control. Mom has a water pistol, and she doesn't even have to shot it at him anymore, he just sees it now and stops what he's doing---but I like it when she shots water at him, I kitty laugh till my tummy hurts. >^..^< Well, we'll all soon be heading back up north to Canada, it's starting to get real warm down here in Florida now. I have a nice big screened in deck up north, which I'll now have to share with this Meezer, but that's O.K. it's big enough for the two of us. I used to share it with 7 others so I think I'll be able to find my own space. I can't wait till it turns real cold up there, and see what this "Largo" the meezer does when there's snow on that deck. If Meowmee lets him out there I bet he'll walk real funny in it, and again I'll kitty laugh till it hurts. Well I'm off again for now, and I hope the Largo boy and I will become better friends, and curl up together up north cause it sure isn't as hot up there, and I used to curl up tight with the late great "Q"----I miss my big white knight. Meows & Purrrrrs for now...Marsha

I know I've been a bad girl not made any new entries to my diary lately! Toady was the first time I woke up to see snow outside, not much, but enough to make me meow a lot asking my humans "When are we going back to Largo, I hate cold weather ya know!" They had the nerve to tell me another month, A WHOLE MONTH, what do I look like a snow cat?! It's only 27* and windy, not much sun either, I need sun and 75*---hello, is anyone listening to my plea? Last year I used to curl up inside my big "Q" boys belly fur, but he went to the rainbow bridge in June, so now I'm all alone. Mom says she's going to find me a new boy in Florida, I hope I like him; I do get along with almost everyone so I'm sure I will after I get used to him being around. She says it's going to be a Siamese or Siamese cross boy with blue eyes. I hope a Siamese cross doesn't mean he'll be mad at me and want to beat me up, what's a cross Siamese, sounds nasty to me? Hope he's young enough that I'll be able to make him my little slave, after all I am the Queen around here! So one more month and I'll be adding to my diary from sunny and much warmer than here, Florida. I'd like to go right now, but there's something called Christmas that we stay up in the cold country for, but I'll be sunning myself for New Years! For now I'll just curl up in front of the fireplace and dream of sun and palm trees, tiny wee squirrels and funny looking birds. >^..^
