I'm not the guardian of Puss. Her coming into the house came about when our beloved Tiger passed away in November 2001, after catching an infection when fighting another cat. I was in England at the time. My Dad was really broken up about it, and it was a long time before he got another cat. Unfortunatley, that cat from the shelter hadn't been spayed properly, and Dad had to take her back. Again Dad was catless. I came back from England in May 2002 and found Dad had adopted another cat from the shelter. She wouldn't sleep on the nice soft lounge or beds for a while, but gradually warmed to it. She and I got to know each other quite well, and then I moved in with my boyfriend and we lost contact. After my marriage breakup, I found myself once again in Dad's place, and she was very cool towards me. I think she is gradually warming to me now, liking a bit of attention when I'm having my morning cup of tea. She definitely does not like my cat, and several fights have ensued.
