Arrival Story:
Jewel was a purebred Persian who I happened to see at a local pet shop while in the mall one day. She was one of the first dilute calico's I'd ever seen and I immediately fell in love with her. After another trip to the shop with my husband and a visit with this precious kitty, we brought her home in April 1989. She was 4 months old.

Bio:
Her full name was Precious L'il Jewel and she was very much the prissy Persian, but a sweetheart! She lived in her own little world most of the time. Jewel was very affectionate to us, when she wanted to be! She had a toy mouse that she loved to carry around and she would even wake up from a nap, meow and look for her mousie. Oftentimes we woke up with mousie in bed with us. Jewel was a very petite girl, never weighing more than around 8 lbs. Jewel was very healthy for most of her life, but she did go deaf about two years or so before we lost her. In the end she did battle hyperthyroidism for a few months. She lost weight and slowly declined in health. On January 31, 2006, we had to help not only Jewel (17) but also Velvet (who was suffering from chronic kidney failure) to the Rainbow Bridge. It was extremely difficult to lose both of these precious kitties on the same day. We miss them so very much.
