Leave a treat for Sidney (In Loving Memory)

Sir Sid, Sidmo, Sid Sid, Sir Sidmo

Gray and White

Good smells - especially scented candles! He loved to be brushed.

He hated going to the vet and he hated when any of the other cats came home with that "vet" smell.

Favorite Toy:
string, wadded up paper balls

Favorite Food:
He especially loved treats and being treated to canned food.

He sighed! And he was very athletic. He could also "brush" himself.

Arrival Story:
I used to work for my vet and Sidney was brought in one day by a guy who we could tell didn't really care about him. He said "cat" was acting slow and thought he might have worms. He didn't and we suggested testing him for feline leukemia which was interpreted wrong and the guy thought "cat" had leukemia so he told us to euthanize him. We explained further, and we also mentioned we knew of someone who wanted a kitty if he didn't want to keep the cat. Of course, that was yours truly. First time I saw Sidney I fell in love with him! We adopted him and brought him home in January 1993. He was about five months old.

Sidney was a very cool cat! He absolutely loved good smells, especially scented candles. Candy cane, chocolate, vanilla and caramel apple were among his favorites! As you can see in his picture, he quite enjoyed relaxing with the scent of a candle beneath his nose! He loved to bond with us after we showered. Sidney was also a very athletic cat. He could run down the stairs within a few leaps and fewer seconds! He and Serena were playmates. Sidney always had the upper hand, but he was also always the one meowing as they stared each other down. He adored our dilute calico Persian, Jewel, and oftentimes would follow her around. Sidney absolutely loved to be brushed. If the brush bristles were facing down, he would even turn the brush over himself and "brush" himself by rubbing against it! When Sidney was 12, he became very anemic. After a blood transfusion, Sidney's health declined very fast. About a week later he had what our vet thought was a blood clot and he died (July 10, 2005) in my arms en route to the animal hospital. We dearly miss him. He was truly a unique and special kitty.
