Arrival Story:
We had her mama, Skitz. Miata was born with a spine and hip deformity. The vet thinks that her mama may have had a mild form of distemper when pregnant with her. When Miata was a baby she could only walk very stiff legged and she never was able to run and jump. As she grew older, she was unable to use her back legs and didn't walk at all for the last 7 years of her life. But she made her needs known very well. When she saw a spot of sunshine, she would look at it and then look at us and meow. When she had to go to the kitty box she had a different meow and when she was hungry she had yet another meow. She slept between our heads every night and would purr us to sleep. She was a very smart kitty and still has her tiny paws firmly wrapped around our hearts. We miss her so much already. Miata Anne is running, jumping and climbing trees at the Rainbow Bridge with her beloved Barney dog mama. 5/2/89 to 9/15/04 Bye sweet Frincess, mama and daddy love you with all our hearts and we will get to see you someday at the bridge and you'll be able to run up to us and jump in our arms!

Bio:
When Miata was a baby, she took a liking to my Shih Tzu Barney (now at the Rainbow Bridge). Barney became a guardian for her and he watched over her. She would try and nurse on him and he would put up with it for so long and then growl, get up and move away but he was never mean with her. One day in our back yard, Barney was happily chewing away on his bone. Miata comes walking down the path in her lumbering, stiff legged walk. All of a sudden her evil twin sisters, Frick and Frack, come flying out of nowhere and knock Miata off her feet. Well Barney dropped his bone and chased the evil twins out of the back yard. He ran back to Miata and checked her over and then ran back to his bone. I would have never believed it if I hadn't of seen it with my own eyes. They had a unique bond and now Miata is having her ears licked by her Barney Dog Mama.
