Arrival Story: My son brought home this little kitten, despite the fact that we already had 5 cats! ............................ "But mom, it was so hungry!"

Bio: Many, many years ago we had a girl tabby. When I begged for a kitten back then, my husband said,"Why?" I quoted the Abomidable Snowman from Bugs Bunny and said, "I will hug it and squeeze it and call it George". My husband got me a little girl kitten and we named her George. THIS George is a boy, therefore he is named Boy George.

Forums Motto: Hug me, squeeze me and call me George!

George disappeared when a mean stray dog showed up. We can't find him!! We always take in strays/care for strays and all the animals have always gotten along! Why did this mean dog show up? Who made him mean? What did he do to my George!!

We live in the middle of nowhere on a dirt road. Often we have a stray or two show up. We always take them in, feed them, treat their mange and/or any other problems and then match them up with a friend or family member. We've done this many, many, many times over the 25 years we've lived here.
Why? Why? Why? About two months ago a german shepherd mixture showed up. He was thin and we left food out for him. Whenever we tried to approach him, he'd bark very aggressively and always stayed a good 20 feet away. When we'd give up on coaxing him closer and turned to walk away, he'd follow (still keeping his distance) and continue to bark aggressively.
Early in Oct, I saw him chasing George. I yelled at him and brought George inside. We have a cat door, so the cats can come and go as they choose. I did not shut the cat door. The next morning was the last time we saw George. We have asked all of the neighbors and hung up signs. Its been over six weeks! If George was just scared off by that dog, some one would have seen him! I am afraid that dog killed him. George was used to playing with dogs of all sizes.
After George was missing for about a week, we started shooting the mean dog with a paint ball gun. He goes away for a few days, but then he comes back again. I cannot kill a dog; I cannot find a trap big enough; I do not know what to do.
I miss George!!
The old girl kitties all stay in the house 24/7. I liked it much better when they could enjoy the outdoors when they wanted to and also I do not like dealing with the litter box!
We all miss George! Why didn't I shut him in the house after I saw the mean dog chase him?! It is all my fault that George is gone and maybe even dead.
I'm so sorry my little Georgie boy.
