Arrival Story: We found Higgins on Petfinder.com. He was adopted from a cat and kitten rescue, Whiskers and Paws, located in Central Florida. Higgins was a hurricane Charley baby and was rescued along with his litter mates after his mother was lost in the hurricane.

Bio: Higgins lived with his foster mom (co-owner of Whiskers and Paws rescue) from the time he was 6 weeks old until we adopted him in August 2006, at age 2. He is somewhat of a scaredy-cat, although he has come out of his shell quite a lot since we brought him home. He still hides when strangers come over, but he is extremely affectionate to us.
He spent the first several hours here under the futon sofa. Until he got used to his new home, he would only sleep in "safe" places - like the cat condo or behind the bed. Now he sleeps anywhere! He is especially fond of pom-pom balls (that were originally angel Serena's toy of choice), and he has played with them so much and sat on them so much that they now resemble tatter tots. He can amuse himself for hours with his tatter tots. He carries them around, plays in the tub with them, brings them to bed, bats them everywhere! Higgins and Cory have become the best of buddies. They wrestle and play together, they bathe each other and they curl up and sleep together.
Higgins also really liked Serena (whom we lost in June 2007 to cancer). They both trilled, and Serena used to "talk" to Higgins. When Serena was ill Higgins would often lie near her, and sometimes he even bathed her. Higgins is such a precious little boy!
