Arrival Story:
Still working at a Library Tech and one of the teachers I work with, her cat had had kittens and she was looking to give them away. My mother was looking for a cat but didn't want one of these kittens but I had gone and visited the teacher and saw the kittens. Again, I wanted the female cat of the litter but it was spoken for, but there were three buff/tan classic tabby boys...told the teacher I'd have to ask my sister if we could take another cat (we had three: Blair, and her two cats). Sis said yes, so I went over and picked one out. I wanted a quiet one, so picked the one who made the least noise. We put some food colouring on his back to tell him from his identical brothers, but that came off easily. One of our coworkers suggest nail polish--it's how breeders of dogs like golden labs tell their pups apart. So the teacher and her daughters did that, but then after I visited again a couple weeks later, we didn't have to. Somehow, his tail got broken (it was not abuse--it was a house full of other cats, a dog, and kids and Rowan was very young when it happened.)and his tail was now crooked! So, no more nail polish. I took him home with me at the end of June 2003 as school was over and I'd be home to supervise his intro to the other cats.

Bio:
Rowan got his name because I wanted another Gaelic name to go along with Blair (which is Gaelic) and if he'd been a girl he would've been Maeve. Rowan is such a sweet little cat; while he isn't one (yet) to lay on me and cuddle, he'll get on the bed with me and rub against me and let me pet him. He often sleeps on my bed or in the window over my bed. When you talk to him he almost curls up in a circle standing up or will rub up against you before dropping on the floor. He will also, when you approach him most times, roll over on his back for a belly rub. He's also another weird food cat: likes strawberries, onions, mushrooms, fruit cocktail juice, peaches... Rowan is just a sweet natured kitty with the cutest little face.
