indoors Arrival Story: I had been mulling over adopting another cat for quite sometime now, but nothing ever seemed to work out or the timing wasn't right. On a whim, my daughter and I went to the NHSPCAjust to look. There he was, too cute, and far to sweet to resist! Bio: Birthday: July 2, 2007. When we first saw Phin he was in a basket with his two female siblings, both of whom were completely grey. He was the only one playing out of the bunch and just seemed to have a happy-go-lucky spirit. After some time spent with this little cherub in a private room we just knew he was the one! Just before we left to go home, the woman who boxed him up brought him down to see his mom, Willow, one more time. In a touching moment, she instantly received him and started to clean him like he had never been away from her. How I wish I could have brought her home too, but that wasn't an option. Willow was also completely grey so apparently Phineas' dad was the one who rubbed off on him. Lovin' the warm fire this time of year:
Ya gotta have friends and family: Enzo is like a BIG brother to me
A couple different kitties have asked how I'm feeling lately and so I thought I would update my Diary.
I feel great! After all I went through I started having problems peeing again so I was put on more antibiotics. It wasn't working and mom was rather frustrated so she called Dr. Richards back and he said quite honestly he wasn't sure what to do medically next because they had pretty much done it all! He had one more suggestion.
Dr. Richards suggested I try a chinese supplement called Rehmannia 6. It's in capsule form but mom can just sprinkle it on my food. It took about a week but suddenly I started peeing freely. MOL! Mom was so relieved as was I. Soooo, I have to finish up my 100 capsules and then just stick to my special diet. If my pee problems return then Dr. R will put me back on the meds.
Now, onto some serious business. I've been sleeping with mom and dad since I was a wee baby but two nights ago daddy kicked me out and wouldn't let Luna and I back in!!! He said 3 animals on the bed is more than he can take and I sleep on him all night long causing him pain in his back and hips. Plus it wakes him up constantly. Mommy told daddy to put me on the floor but I'm like rubber and I bounce right back ; )
Now I'm stuck with Luna out in the cold house and no one to snuggle with. Daddys says I need a new bed of my own. Maybe a heated one is what I'm thinking! Mommy says one good thing about me not sleeping with them is that I've become more affectionate and started sleeping on her lap. Well a guys gotta get the lovin' when he can!
*By the way did you see that new little lady at Gentleman Jacks house? Miss Minerva is her name and she is as cute as the day is long! I wouldn't mind chasing her around the house a few times. MOL!
What a tough time I've had with this Mycoplasma, but the greatest gift I received this year for Christmas was my 2nd life.
Mom stressed about me all day yesterday, thinking she would have to bring me to the Emergency Clinic because I was still so lethargic and sick. Finally around 7:oo last night I started to perk up. I ate about a teaspoon or so of canned food, warmed up with a bit of water added, then I slept with mom and dad all night long.
Today I've eaten canned food 3 times and mom is going to feed me again before she goes to bed. It's the yummy stuff too, Fancy Feast!
Dr. Shag had to go into the office today to check on some other kitties so she was kind enough to call mom and check on me. I could tell mom really appreciated it. Dr. Shag said I would be weak for a while longer as it takes about 5 days for the blood to build back up in my system. She and mom talked for a long time. I think they talked about other things besides me, like Christmas, spoiled kids, babies, and stuff like that. They sure can chat!
My next appointment for bloodwork and a check up is Tuesday, the 30th. And then I'll have to go back one more time for a more thorough check up a couple weeks or so. They want to be sure my red blood cells are lookin' good and that I'm not anemic anymore.
All that matters to mom is that I'm back to normal! I know Luna misses me too because she keeps trying to get me to play with her. She rolls over in front of me and starts pawing at my legs. Can't she see I'm too tired to play?
Purrs of thanks to all the wonderful friends who stopped by and left me a rosette, star, gift, or note. Even though I was too sick to read them I know they sure made mommy feel a whole lot better!
In just a few minutes I'll be going to pick Phin up at the vets! I stopped by this morning to visit with him and talk with Dr. Shag. She said they wanted to keep him as long as they could but they close at 1:00 today so I could pick him up shortly before that.
Phin still isn't feeling great but his fever has broken and he's more energetic. Still wobbly and not eating well, but for now they think he'll be more comfortable in his own environment. If however, he spikes a fever again, or won't eat, doesn't have a bowel movement, or just seems like he's not feeling well in general then I will need to take him to the Emergency Vets.
Poor Phin, he looked like such a mess this morning but was he ever happy to see me! When I left he wanted to go too. It broke my heart, but he'll be home soon enough : )
