Arrival Story:
I wanted an Abyssinian ever since I had seen the movie "The Cat from Outer Space." We finally found a breeder in Illinois and my Mom drove down to look at the kittens. The breeder had said there was a female available...I already had a name "Daisy". When I got home, my Mom said the breeder didn't have the female anymore, but she had gotten a male and named him. She opened the door with a flourish, said, "Meet Theodore Francis" and a tiny red cat came out of the bathroom and looked around as if to say, "So THIS is my kingdom!" He was a tiny cat with a mighty attitude! We called him Theodore because it means "gift of God" in Greek and Francis for St. Francis, the patron of animals. His cattery name was Sun Dance Prince Theodore. "Prince" because of his royal attitude. He was also named after Theodore Roosevelt...we called him our little "Rough Rider" because of the way he raced through the house and ran sideways on the walls!

Ted was a hilarious cat...he had a very bad temper for such a little guy, but he was never mean...just offended that we would think of taking him to the vet, etc....once the veterinarian, two techs and I had to hold him down for a shot...and they put a muzzle on him! (He was only a 7 pound cat!) He would pout for hours after coming home and if you would dare to try to coax him out from under the bed you would get a nasty hiss and growl! But he was also very sweet and affectionate. He would not sit on your lap, but would sit behind you on a chair often licking your hair. He would sit on you when you were in bed. He was slightly jealous of me and when my boyfriend knelt down to kiss me goodbye (I was sitting) Ted ran up and put his face between us, so he would get kissed too! One of his famous tricks was grabbing a green grape, putting it gently between his front teeth, (not biting or eating it) and racing through the house in glee! He was very intelligent and figured out how to play ball down the stairs and taught us what he wanted us to do...throw the ball back down the stairs. He could get the ball before it hit the bottom...if no one would play with him, he would hold it in his mouth and bat it out with his paw...and still get it before it reached the bottom! He often sat in front of the heat register with his tail up to warm up his little butt. In the summer, he let his tail sit in the water dish to cool off!
