Hello Friends! Thought I would let you know what is going on with my eyes. I have had surgery in both eyes now, and, unfortunately, it has not helped at all.
I am not able to read books, magazines, or handwritten things. Basically anything with a font size smaller than 14. Using the computer makes my eyes tire very quickly, so I am not spending much time online.
I had a long conference with my primary doctor and we have come to the conclusion that keeping my blood sugar levels stable for more than a few days is impossible, and we have run out of options.
It is a cycle of pain, lack of sleep due to pain, more pain from lack of sleep, etc. I can have great, normal blood sugar readings for a few days. Then if I start having more pain than usual, my blood sugar goes up, and WILL NOT come down for a few days. That means readings over 300 sometimes, which is not good at all. I do not qualify for the pump. I have tried every drug and combination out there. Nothing is breaking the cycle.
Unfortunately, uncontrolled blood sugar is NOT good for my eyes - or any of my major organs. Things will continue to get worse unless somehow, God intervenes and helps me control the pain/sleep cycle.
She also told me that I cannot take any more insulin than I am already taking.....and that it is impossible for me to loose a lot of weight with the amount of insulin I take.
So I am not in a good place right now. It was devastating for me to hear this. I MISS emailing my friends. I MISS Catster terribly!
IF my eyes stay stable for 3 months, I can get new lenses, which will help considerably. Until then..........with the up and down of my blood sugar my vision changes all the time and it drives me crazy.
I am so thankful for my relationship with Jesus..........without Him in my life I would have no hope at all.
I really appreciate your prayers and friendship and I hope that you understand and can accept my limitations at this point! I am thankful that I can still drive :)
Love,
Laura-Lynne
Leave A Comment | 14 people already have We are sorry to hear things aren't going well with the diabetes. Wish we had some good advice, for you, it has hurt and taken people in our family to. You will just have to listen to the docs and hope they know what is best. We really need a medical breakthrough in that area.
Meanwhile, there should be text to voice programs and things that are for the visually impaired that could help you enjoy some of the things you used to. Maybe someone knows how to install one for you. One would hope there would be some services out there. Anyone know? We are all purring so hard for you, and hope the doctors are able to help you in the best way they can. We know you have the best nurse around - hugs to Margo. We love you both! Stay strong, and we'll do a search on the internet to see if we can find anything that Ming mentions in her comment. Margo - If your Mommy has someone who can help get things set up on your computer, you can find some free downloads by searching on "Free Downloads for Voice to Text".
The "free natural reader" at this site allows you to "listen" to any text on your computer.
http://www.naturalreaders.com/ Oh Margo and meowmy Laura-Lynne! While we sure do miss you, we understand the limitations that your health has brought about and are purring and purraying that things stablize enough fur you to be able to try to get new glasses and see just fine. We're sure life's been a struggle lately, but remember we are here fur you and that the will of God will never take you where the grace of God will not protect you.
Loving purrs, Alexis and meowmy Jane Quoting Alexis: "The will of God will never take you where the grace of God will not protect you."
What a wonderful & powerful statement! I believe this as well & Laura-Lynne we continue to hold you up in prayer.
One of the hardest things I've had to learn over & over again is that God's timing is not our timing. But in His timing all things are made whole.
Hang in there sweetie & know your friends understand & are here for you & always holding you up before the Lord. We love you & Margo! We are purring for you and are sorry that things are not going well for you. We send you big kitty hugs!
