Arrival Story:
I found her on PetFinder.com and drove to Kansas City, MO to get her. It's about a 2.5 hour trip. She was 4 weeks old and very tiny, so she slept in the sleeve of a friend's sweatshirt the whole way back to Springfield. The woman who had her provides a foster home for strays and other animals in need of rescue. She told me that she got Meshee when she was at the grocery store and saw some boys throwing around a little kitten.

Bio:
Meshee will only drink water from the bathroom sink, or any other potable container that is not her bowl: i.e. peoples' glasses of water. She lost one of her lives when she was 6 months old. At the time we lived in an apartment which had a gas stove and oven, it was an ooollllddd stove and the oven pilot light had to be lit instead of just always being on. I had never used a gas oven before and I guess I had the temperature set too high to be lighting the pilot light, that or it took me too long to do and there was a gas build up. Anyway, Meshee was right there with her little front paws up on the oven door and peering in when a giant fireball billowed out. She was not harmed. It just singed her whiskers, some hair on her tail, and the hair inside of her ears. It sure did scare the hell out of me, I thought we would both be hurt since my face was down there too. However, as you can see, she is fine and all the hair has completely grown back.
