Safe at Home

it's cold out there! -- but not in here!

Yay for having a happy, toasty home! I remember all too well what it was like to live out in the cold. Now I sit and stare out the window, and although I sometimes think it would be fun to chase the birds out there, I'm mostly happy to be in here. Warm, with lots of food and clean water, and with people who are willing to pet me. . . These days I like to curl up on the loveseat, or sometimes I slip into the baby's room and sleep on the mat in there. That's one of the warmest rooms in the house! Mmm-hmm. Loki chases me sometimes--he's cranky a lot--but we do all right. I jump into the shower and stay there for a bit when Loki is on a rampage.

I like that our new home has lots of space and good places to curl up and hide. And I really like that it stays nice and warm for me!

it begins. . .

The part where they box things up. Which means we really are moving. I'm nervous! I know my people will do what's best for all of us, but still. . . I don't know how soon this is going to happen. Right now I'm spending my time hiding among all the boxes. They're at least good for that! Although sometimes Loki gets on top of them all and swats at me if I go up on any of them.

One thing my people have promised: after the move, I'll be able to jump into bed with them again. Happy day! Ever since the baby came home and has been sharing their room, no kitties allowed. But the baby will have his own room, they've said, so I'll be able to curl up on the bed again. In which case. . . I hope the move is soon!

I suspect something may be up. My people have spoken of moving. We've done that once before, and even though it was just another apartment in the same building, I didn't like it much. Not that I don't love our place! It was the getting here that was stressful.

Now it sounds like we'll be going somewhere new in a few months. Momma has told me it'll be bigger, with lots more room. . . Maybe more places to hide? That could be good.

Momma says there will be windows for watching birds. Birds! She says there are trees around the house, so there should be some birds. I might not like moving, but I think I might like our new home.
