Arrival Story:
One day, when she must have been about 7 months old, she just came running across the apartment complex driveway, friendly and cheery. No identification, no nothing, and we'd never seen her before. She had burrs in her fur and a steelie on the inside of her left back leg (still there, as the vet said if it wasn't bothering her, to leave it alone). She wanted to make friends with Lemur who lived here at the time, and we hoped they'd become playmates. Lemur never exactly warmed to having another feline in the apt, and now Coati has become a bit of an intolerant grump. She can be so cute and affectionate and then rather a butthead at other times. She was named after the 'coatimundi' because the description of that critter's nature described her purrsonality--"social and gregarious"--though it's not so fitting anymore! Mostly she goes by "Chunky Nose," a name someone told me some years ago she had named her own cat.
