I love meat--all kinds. I also love catnip and getting my humans to sit places where I can cuddle up to them.

I hate getting wet, but I really hate unexpected noises (especially the tea kettle)--I startle very easily.

Favorite Toy:
I love the sack of catnip my mommy gave me the day she brought me home.

Favorite Nap Spot:
Any patch of sun I can find.

Favorite Food:
I really enjoy the wet cat food mommy gives me every morning, but I *love* any sort of meat.

I tell my mommy when it's time for her to go to bed every night. Sometimes I have to nip her leg several times to get her to come to bed, but I'm very persistent.

Arrival Story:
When I was six years old, my family brought me to the SPCA because one of them was allergic to me. The people at the SPCA were nice, but I wasn't very happy living in a cage. Also, most of the people who go to shelters to find a new cat aren't interested in a middle-aged guy like me. Fortunately, one of the shelter volunteers told a co-worker about me, and that lady came to adopt me. It was sort of scary to have to sit in a cardboard box for a while, but I was *very* happy to have a new family!

Teddy was a dear friend to all of us and he will be sadly missed.

As you all know, I was having some constipation problems, which my Mom thought we had fixed. Well, I did feel better for a bit, but then I started having problems again. It was really hurting me to poop! My Mom and Dad took me to the vet, and the vet said he thought I had a perianal fistula. He told Mom and Dad that a surgeon would be able to fix me right up, so they made an appointment for me.

Well, I had that appointment yesterday, and it wasn't very good at all. The surgeon saw my butt and said he didn't think it was a fistula--he thought it might be a tumor. He admitted me so they could do more tests and x-rays later in the day. I had to wait forever for them to get to me, but I understood because there were a lot of young cats who needed help and wouldn't be able to go without food as long as I can. Unfortunately, the surgeon discovered that the thing on my butt is part of a large, cancerous tumor that is blocking 90% of my rectum--that's why it hurts me so much to poop! Anyway, Mom and Dad are coming in to talk with the surgeon, but it looks like the best choice might be to, well, you know. I'm not really sure I want to sleep forever, but it does sound a lot more comfortable that I have been for the last few weeks. I'm really going to miss my Mom and Dad and Arthur, and I know they will miss me lots too.

So I just wanted to stop by and say "goodbye" to everyone. Take care of yourselves and all your kitties!

Constipation is no fun

Mom and Dad noticed I've been leaving little pieces of poop around the house the last several days. At first they just thought maybe Arthur and I were batting around pieces of poop that we scooped out of the litterbox, but Mom finally realized that I was constipated. I tried really really hard to be a good boy and use the litterbox, but nothing would come out and it really hurt! so i would lick and lick my butt and eventually I would pull out some stuff. I just left it there because I didn't know what else to do with it. I tried to bury it, but the carpet wouldn't cover it.

Anyway, mom called the vet and he told her to give me some yucky mineral oil and then some milk of magnesia. At first I was excited about the milk, but then I realized it really wasn't the sort of milk I wanted. I don't know what kind of animal a magnesia is, but I don't know how they can live on that milk! But the good news is--it worked!

I went to the vet

Mom and Dad took me to the vet on Saturday. I was having a nice nap in a sunny patch on their bed and Mom came in and picked me up. I thought she was just going to give me a nice cuddle, but she put me in that awful carrier and brought me to the car! I told her that was a mean trick and I didn't appreciate it one bit.

The vet part was OK I guess. Mom said I did really well--I even lost 1.5 pounds. Now I have a little less than a pound left to lose and I won't be fat anymore.
