Arrival Story:
This poor kitty, he is the social outcast of our fur family, and is often picked on by his brother Willie, and sister Rachael. I met him the day I began working as a cat nurse in a huge cat rescue facility back in December of 2000. As I was walking through the facility and introducing myself to all the kitties, I noticed this one who looked almost exactly like my beloved Gem. Gem was an odd color, a chinchilla tabby tuxedo, and I couldn't believe how much this cat looked like him, right down to the white spot by his nose. I used to say hello to him on a daily basis during my rounds to look for those who needed medications, or other special care. A few months later, during the tedious process of taking blood from about 600 cats who were being housed there, we got to this particular kitty. We were naming them as we went, and they recieved collars with shrink-tags which we baked in the microwave. Naturally, I called him Gem Jr. About a month later, my sweet Gem was diagnosed with cancer. It was a very infiltrative cancer, squamous cell carcinoma, and it rapidly took over our lives. Gem died in May of 2001. I loved him so much, my heart ached. Within a few months, I adopted Gem Jr. I felt a need to be able to say the name around the house. It was comforting to me, although I have never been able to drop the Jr. from Gem Jrs' name when addressing him. His personality is nothing like the original, but they do have the same super soft silky fur, and they even walk the same, and have the same body shape. Everyone loved Gem, and he was always right in the middle of a bed full of his brofurs and sisfurs. Gem Jr. on the other hand, is always in a bed by himself.

You can take a graphic and musical journey to Kitty Heaven with the original Gem as told to me by an animal communicator. I worked hard on this website, it was much needed therapy for me after Gem died. Frankly, I think it the only thing that kept me going after his death. There is a guest book at the end, if you take the journey, please let us know that you did. Journey To Kitty Heaven

The pressures of carrying on the name of the great and wonderful Gem, have proven too much for me. My Mom and Stepdad have taken away the wooden crates on which I tried to choke myself. Now that didn't help matters, the others hate me even more, they loved those wooden crates. They did make great beds!

With no hard edges to choke myself on, last night I decided to leap to my death from the highest level in the cat enclosure. DRATS! It wasn't high enough, I only succeeded in making myself look like a fool in front of everyone. Mom was scooping the boxes so everyone was out there. My brother Willie chased me all the way back into the house with Mom chasing behind, yelling at him. Of course Mom and Stepdad showed concern, checking me out to make sure I was OK, which only embarassed me even more.

I'll have to find another way.
