Sooty-Pooty, the Gremlin, Toot

Quick Bio:
-mixed breed

Arrival Story:
My mum returning an ill kitten to the pet shop was offered 'how about this little black one', who was meowing in the centre of playing kittens. She meowed all the way home, and remained little and black. When she was brought home, we had some other kids over. My mum came home, and in the kitchen, a little black kitten peeked it's head out of the box. So we had another kitten for Sheba to play with. And I had a friend for most of my life so far. When she was a kitten, a neighbour remarked "hasn't she got beautiful ears?". I quite agree. They were huge.

Sooty left us in February 2005. It was a sad end to a very good cat, but she had a long, loved and happy life. A couple of years before that, she was hit by a car, and deteriorated since then. Before her accident, Sooty did not seem such an old cat as she was. Sheba, who is the same age, seemed a lot older than her. Sooty still played and Sheba just sat about being a proper lady. She was very conversational. She had a loud meow, and if you talked to her she would reply, always. Builders and the like who were at our house for a while often made friends with Sooty and talked to her. She was everyone's friend and was never scared of strangers. She also had a low, gentle purr, and often made the most lovely prinkling noises. Friends have described her as 'different' and 'the best cat ever'. I remember her rubbing her head toothily along somebody's socked toes, with them laughing madly at the tickle. Sooty loved to headbutt you and be stroked vigourously. Sooty was very much 'my' cat, even though specific ownership of cats is not done in my household. She would sleep on my bed along with Suzie. She often slept on the pillow next to me, or when she wanted attention, sat on top of me and patted my face. Sooty was absoloutely brilliant. I really miss her.

Thank you to everybody who has sent messages to me and my furry family. We appreciate every one of them, but do not always have time to reply. It is very nice to hear from other cats and their owners out there though!
