Musings by one hell of a cat

Is there anything more dreadful then to let go?
We had to put Ronja to sleep nearly two weeks ago. Horrible. Devastating. We miss her so much. We buried her in our garden right next to a beautiful, big stone.

Devastating

We just recieved the news yesterday: Ronja is terminally ill. She has a fist-sized tumor in her tummy. She sleeps a lot, eats and drinks almost nothing. The vet said he has to put her to sleep soon. He can't do anything for her.

It hurts so much. Knowing these are her last days with us. I still can't believe it.

My mom seems to be desperate

She even took me to the vet! Ok, I have this acceptance-problem with my cat toilet. Ok, it could have been a bodily malfunction but it isn't. Now she is more unsure as before.

I'm being watched and I don't like it

So yes, there was this tiny little accident on the stairs tonight. Sheesh - will you relax? I felt the need and I didn't make it to the bathroom in time... Sorry. I really am.

They just don't get it. If I could only get my point across. What is this little bit of *ahem* against not getting fed at 6.00 o'clock sharp?

Scary stuff

I knew it. Something BIG was up.
For days on end, things vanished from our home. Then came the big boxes. And then... nothing!! Everything gone, the rooms empty - save for the bed. One particular boring evening - after a hectic day with tons of people going everywhere and taking our stuff out - mum came, put me in this transport-thingy and off we go. Scary stuff, I tell ya.

And now here I am. Strange. All our things are here. The good news is, there are stairs now that I can run up and down. And lots of hiding places. New smells to discover. Places to go, things to do. One major complaint, though: the windowsills are too small for my butt!

Isn't it a really cool name?

My mum named me after Ronja - the heroine in a tale written by Astrid Lindgren (ok, I say heroine, everyone else says little girl. But hey - she is soooo cool! ). And only now I finally get to know the real spelling in svedish! Thanks to my new pal Fuego to tell me! *purr*

Something is up

I can feel it. My folks are constantly away. Or always talking about these strange papers. And I am not allowed to lay down and sleep on them – much less play with the pages. There is a heap of black lines on it. Hmm… Looks like a house. But what for? I seriously hope that they don’t plan on moving! At least not without consulting me about my wishes! There have to be scratch-posts in every room. From floor to ceiling. Lots and lots of hiding places. NO other cats around. Big fluffy beds….

Diet? That is a dirty word if I ever heard one!

Where has all the food gone? Up until now, I usually had all the food I wanted – every time I wanted. Because my granddaddy (who I seldom see, because every time he stops by, I go hiding under the couch – okay, that’s my plan of action whenever the doorbell rings, so sue me!) made me this box-like thing where the food comes out nearly endlessly. And now its gone. Ok, these two little new pots are very chic – but what if there is no food in them? It happens all the time! Once I eat it, it is gone! And stays that way until evening. *grrrr*

So what if the Vet said I should be fed only two times a day? And only get strictly measured portions? I thought these were guidelines (I always had a thing for Johnny Depp in his pirate getup!) – and no actual rules!

Getting naked?

My mom is puzzled. It seems I’m doing everything I can to loose my wonderful black fur. She brushes me every morning and can’t understand how there is even one hair left on my body when I’m loosing so many. But hey – I’ve got it to spare. You know, I’m not fat – only my fur is…plush. Yes!

And who would think of getting naked when there is such a nerve-wracking visitor on our balcony? Mommys landlord recently got a tomcat. Or the cat got him. Anyway – there isn’t one single afternoon anymore where this white and grey pointed guy doesn’t show up on our doorstep. Let me make it clear once again: I don’t like it one bit! There goes the quiet stroll on the balcony… *sighs*

Oh – well, Mommy is getting ready to brush my fur again. Splendid! Should I tell her of the really big fur-fluff I lost on my scratching post? Or the one I placed strategically beneath her sheets? Let me think about this…
