Likes: Kukla loved being near MomKatt. He was very gentle & easygoing & didn't play much with the other guys. I always wondered if he knew something .... and any time I wanted to rub him, he was READY.
Pet-Peeves: He didn't have any, I don't think. He was just a sweet-natured little boy.
Favorite Toy: He loved Cat Dancers.
Favorite Nap Spot: He used to love to sleep either right next to MomKatt's ear & purr her to sleep, or sleep on her chest.
Favorite Food: He'd eat anything you put before him.
Skills: Making everyone who met him love him.
Arrival Story: He picked me, sitting beside my left foot one day while I was visiting my Abys' breeder (same lady from whom I got Livia). He was small when he was born, according to her, and his brother was named Ollie. As with most cats people get, I wasn't looking to add anyone: at the time, we had Sharif and Livia and that was enough. But ... Kukla was not to be denied. I went home with pictures to show my husband and I was already head over heels in love with him.
My husband soon said, "Yes." It's a good thing he did ... this is a sad story but Kukla was one of the most loving kitties I've ever had the privilege of knowing. Morticia reminds me a lot of him, though she's much stronger, physically (thank heavens). Kukla picked me, as did Morticia - I think that's why he always sat so close to my heart and why losing him barely a year later to FIP was so very painful.
Bio: Kukla died on June 21, 2001, of FIP. I'd never heard of this horrible disease before and I took him to 4-5 vets, hoping someone would give me another diagnosis, one with some hope in it. There is no cure, no vaccination available. On the day he died, Kukla waited for his MomAndDadKatt to get home from their jobs.
He was cremated, and sits in a gorgeous Egyptian urn on my dresser in my bedroom, flanked by all sorts of cat carvings, statues, porcelain figures, etc. I couldn't bear to bury him - as my husband pointed out, he'd never spent a day outside in his life, like all our cats. Why put him there then?
I remember bringing him home from the vet that last time. I laid his lifeless body on the floor and Sharif and Livia both came over to sniff their goodbyes. After that, they knew something was wrong but they didn't mourn. I'd always read that this was the thing to do if you had more than one cat, and one died. It would prevent the ones left behind from grieving - and it's a pitiful thing to see an animal grieve.
Two months later, Feisal came to live with us. Mike, the breeder, suffered through Kukla's illness with me, and said to come get another kitten - any one I wanted - when I was ready. Kukla's brother, Ollie, died about two weeks before Kukla went. Mike was never able to figure out what happened with that particular litter, only that they were smaller in size than usual. Oddly enough, their sister survived and never to this day showed any signs of FIP.
Kukla came to me for his short life, knowing I'd take care of him. I had no money left when he died; I'd spent every spare penny & charged my credit cards to their maximums trying to get him some help.
Educate yourselves about FIP - and I hope no one on www.Catster.com has a kitty go through it.

By Ginger (266468) back in June! MomKatt's been REALLY busy this summer getting ready for school ... so we are finally doing this!
I'm supposed to write 5 awesome things about me, then tag 5 other kits so here goes ...
1. I had a very comforting purr.
2. My fur, for show standards, was called "mouse coat" and not really "up to par" for cat show judges, because it had too much black in it, but MomKatt loved it so she says it's a pawsome thing about me!
3. I'm named after a famous TV puppet!
4. After I went to The Bridge, MomKatt had me cremated and I now live in this GORGEOUS Egyptian urn on her bedroom dresser where she can always see me.
5. In 2005, I knew MomKatt was lonely so I sent my sisfur, Morticia, to her to be her "special kitty" like I was.
