Hi, I'm Sasha Carter & this is my story. MomKatt got a call one day from the Caswell Co. Shelter in Yanceyville, NC, saying there was a Siamese kitten there that was an "owner give-up" and could she take a look & see if it would be a good fit for Siamese Rescue? I was in bad shape - the lady that gave me up said she'd paid a lot of money for me but now my eye was bad and she demanded that the shelter staff put me to sleep right then and there - while she watched! Fortunately, the shelter people were much more compassionate than she was. They got rid of my stupid ex-owner as quickly as possible and then went about seeing what they could do for me. Turned out my eye was so gummy and nasty because I had herpes! Who knew!? I was just a tiny kitten - dirty, unloved, uncared-for and now ... herpes! What had I done, in my VERY short life, to deserve this? Anyway, MomKatt came out with her digital camera, took pictures and told me not to worry, that I was going to see a vet before I got into the Rescue program so we could get my eye cleared up. A few days later, I went to the vet & got medicine for my eye. When we returned to MomKatt's house, Dad came out of the house, looked at me in the carrier (all small and bunched up - I was scared and I felt terrible) and fell in love. I didn't know all this at the time - at that point, all I knew was that I was going to go to a foster home near the shelter with a lady who was going to administer my eyedrops and get me well while I waited to be placed in Siamese Rescue. Compared to what I'd experienced before that, it sounded like Heaven to me.
Bio:
(MomKatt picks up story thread.) That same afternoon, my husband and I went out to lunch and I asked him what he thought of the kitten & wasn't her eye just terrible? He was quiet for a few minutes, then said, "Well ... WE could adopt her, couldn't we?" At this point, we had Sharif, Livia and Feisal - and they were all my cats. But my husband didn't have a kid of his own. I said, "Sure!" And that was that. He named her Sasha, after the first cat he had when he was younger (a Russian Blue). A few weeks later, after Sasha's eye cleared up (we had to be very careful as herpes was not transmissible to humans but WAS transmissible to other cats) and she was given a clean bill of health, she came home and she's been there ever since. We don't know what baggage she actually came with - but she does not like people she doesn't know and will run & hide under our bed until they are gone. She's bonded to Mom and Dad, especially Dad, who takes her down to the basement on a regular basis and that's her spot, where she hangs and lays on his ham radio equipment, chases spiders (then throws them up - you'd think she'd learn!) and rubs all over your legs & seems 100% content. When I think of the ending she COULD have had, Sasha's is one very lucky-cat story. We're proud to say she's one of our two rescues/adoptees (Morticia being the other one).

Hi all!
I'm turning 8 years old today! MomKatt says it's hard to believe. I was in a bad way when they got me at the Caswell Co. Shelter in Yanceyville NC - I had herpes bad in my left eye and I was pitiful. But they saw beyond my bedraggled state, especially when they heard my story (see my page if you're curious). Stoopid, mean old lady - she couldn't see how beautiful I was, all she could see was money she felt she'd lost. My life wasn't worth anything to her. But it was to Dad&MomKatt ... so when he suggested they adopt me, MomKatt agreed and I've been his girl ever since, in a happy, loving home (except that Peppers chases me all the time .... GRRR)
So ... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

My left eye hurts. Mom&DadKatt asked me what happened, and I can't tell them 'cause I don't know, but I heard Dad tell Mom he was calling the V E T today at work to make an appointment to take me in tomorrow! Oh noes! They're going to stuff me in that carrier ... and I HATE the carrier.
But they saw this morning that my left eye (which was the one that had herpes in it when I was a kitten and which has been mildly cloudy ever since, though I see fine through it) was closed and, when they got me to open it, it was all red around the rim and VERY cloudy.
*sigh* I guess this will mean eye drops. I don't LIKE eye drops.
I'll try to be a good girl - I'll update you on this as things happen.

Teddy's been my boyfriend for a little while now but we've not been able to get our schedules together to go on an honest to goodness date. Well, we're going TONIGHT to the Black Cat Appreciation Celebration put on by my sisfur, Morticia, and her group, BCCP!
I can't wait! And he wants to smooch me! *(blush blush)*
