Gotcha Date: August 18th 2005 Birthday: February 9th 2005 Coloration: Black Likes: Supervising her MomKatt & Sunday morning "Lap Time" on the sofa. Pet-Peeves: Being held too long or being picked up. Favorite Toy: Any type of teaser but I prefer mylar and/or feathers. Favorite Nap Spot: In MomKatt's lap or up against her chest or her butt when she's in bed at night. Also I love being in our downstairs bathroom windowsill (when I can shove my sisfur, Sasha, out of it!) Favorite Food: HAM. Skills: I'm the first Black Cat World-Champion Backgammon player! Dwells:
indoors Arrival Story: I showed up on my MomKatt's front porch in Aug. 2005, the day before she and DadKatt were going on vacation. Right away, I knew she was a soft touch, because when she looked out of the kitchen door and saw me sitting there, she came right out to greet me. (Later, MomKatt told me that I was her "Wish Cat" because she'd been wishing for a black cat for the last three months - and suddenly, there I was!)
Anyway, MomKatt gave me a bowl of nice, crunchy food and some water, then went inside & got the phone. As I ate, I heard her tell someone (who turned out to be the cat sitter), "Make sure you feed the new black kitty outside until we get back from vacation!" When I heard that, I knew I was in like Flynn. MomKatt spent the entire afternoon with me on the porch (she told me she'd already packed, so she didn't have anything to do to prepare for the trip) and I attached myself to her like a burr. We were kindred spirits, she and I. She was the person I'd been looking for for quite some time.
I hardly ever left that house and yard while they were gone. The cat sitter was a nice lady named Sharon and I could tell she was a "cat person" because she talked to me and treated me well. On the day I thought my new family was going to get back, I made sure that I was there waiting to greet them. I waited and waited and, finally, about 11:30 PM, they pulled into the driveway and I was sitting on the porch railing, as if to say, "So where have you been?" That was the last night I was to ever spend outside - the next day, MomKatt scooped me up and took me to her vet at the time. There was something wrong with one of my eyes - it was all gummy and looked bad, but my other eye was completely clear and, as MomKatt said, the most luminous shade of light green she'd ever seen. I was given some eyedrops and I was very patient whenever MomKatt had to put them in my eye because I knew she was trying to help me. (Actually, MomKatt held me while DadKatt put the drops in. For a long while afterward, I wasn't sure about him because, every time he came towards me, I thought I was going to get more eyedrops! He's really a nice guy: I'm just bonded to Mom.) I was such a good girl during my treatment: I didn't cry or complain and I always got ham afterward for being so good. Now, I'm 100% healthy, both my eyes are gorgeous, I see EVERYTHING that goes on and whenever I see my MomKatt, I immediately start to purr. In fact, I'm just a purring machine! I love nothing better than to lie on her lap while she's reading in bed, or on the sofa in the living room, and I love to sleep with her. My KattParents have a HUGE king-sized bed, and I curl up against MomKatt's chest and purr the night away - or I sleep behind the bend in her knees. (I'm also quite bad when I hide under the edge of the bedspread and pounce on unsuspecting toes - hence my nickname "TOEMONSTER".) I LOOOOOVVEEEE any mylar teaser you care to shake in front of me, and I also love bouncy, lightweight balls. My sister, Sasha, and I kinda vie for "Alpha Female" position; I must say Sasha gives as good as she gets from me! But we mostly tend to share the position and keep everyone else in line.
I'm one happy black girl and I know I'm very loved.
UPDATE: On August 21, 2007, Hudson officially asked me to be his girlfriend. We'd met before the Mardi Gras Pawty on Aug. 17, but we hadn't really had a chance to talk before then. Hudson asked me to dance & quite literally swept me off of my feet! His picture is here on my page - isn't he HANDSOME? I'm SOOO happy!
****August 23, 2007 - Catster's Daily Diary pick! I'm so proud!****
****June 27, 2008 - Hudson & I wedded!**** Bio: Morticia had somehow scratched the cornea on one of her eyes as she'd traveled to find me, making it impossible for her third eyelid to grow over her eyeball (hence the gummy stuff that built up.) So after about three weeks of eyedrops (administered by my husband, at whom Morticia still looks askance sometimes, we think, because of that) her eye turned as clear and green and beautiful as the good eye. You can't tell anything was wrong with it now. Morticia has a lovely, penetrating but gentle gaze and purrs whenever she sees me. She's definitely "Mama's girl" and I just adore her. Her tail has a language all its own: it's the most active cattail I think I've ever seen. And when she's being petted, it REALLY swishes back & forth! What a prize she is, and how lucky I am that she found me. Lives Remaining: 9 of 9 Forums Motto: MomKatt's Black Dahlia! We had a GRREAT pawty last night! Everyone came out & we had a good time. The eyeball 'tinis seemed to go over well. MOL Selina & Romeow put brussel balls into the light sockets ... what a mess they make when you try to turn on the lights! MOL
Well, things in my corner of the world are settling down after Feisal's trip to the Bridge. Gosh, it'll be three weeks this Friday - time goes so quickly. At least hoomans say it does - cats, y'know, don't really have a concept of "time" unless it involves the time of day we normally get fed (we know when THAT is, right guys?), etc. We operate on different clocks than hoomans have.
Anyways, MomKatt isn't sad anymore. She knows she did the right thing.
And my crazy sisfur, Selina, is filling the gap, almost from the get-go. She's nuts. She's chasing ALL of us - INCLUDING ME, thankyouverymuch (Peppers NEEDS chasing 'cause he is fat - *I* do NOT need chasing, because *I* am NOT fat!) I'm not overly fond of this; but ... oy vey, KITTENS (Well, Selina likes to THINK she's all grown up, but she's really a kitten at heart still.)
I try to have patience but .... some days ... *sigh*
Am I turning into a fuddy-duddy? I hope not!
Meanwhile, Sasha's eye is all wonky, so DadKatt is taking her to the V E T tomorrow to see what's going on there. It's shut & cloudy. :( Probably something Selina did I'd bet ... MOL
That's not fair, shouldn't blame her ... then again, she doesn't read my Diary so I can say what I want.
6 years .... MomKatt & I can't believe it! (It's also been that long since the pawrents' last vacation but that's not MY fault! MOL) They've been VERY good ones, I must say. I couldn't have wandered into a more welcoming driveway. MomKatt tells me often that I am her "wish cat" because she wished for me & I came. I'm actually coming to believe that. MOL!
Maybe .... just MAYBE ... I'll get extra ham tonight to celebrate ...
