indoors Arrival Story: I found a different cat online and my husband and I went to Pet Smart intending to meet him. That cat had zero interest in us, but Munch (then Mahoney) came over and instantly was attracted to my husband. He jumped on his lap, put a paw on either side of his neck, and kissed his chin. He wouldn't leave my husband alone...and he is so cute, there's no way we could turn him away! He assured us we'd made the right decision when he tried to follow us out of the shelter! He was delivered to our home a few nights later by the wonderful volunteers at Hope for Animals. Bio: Munch was found in a parking lot in Staten Island by a really nice human who lived near our neighborhood. Although Munch was healthy, the man already had some animals with medical needs and couldn't manage more pets. Forums Motto: SuperMunch - to the rescue!! Munch is named after the Detective played by Richard Belzer on Law and Order. It's one of our favorite shows. He's grown into the name though, "munching" on any and everything he can carry around the house.
The last night I had with them they let me into their bedroom. I was going to just sleep on the comforter near them but I couldn't get to sleep. My heart was all jumpy like it had been for a few days. I wanted to remind both of them how much I love them. So, i nuzzled my Mommy's hair and kept purring and rubbed my face against her and Daddy's faces and of course, licked Daddy's chin. I just felt really grateful for them both and the life that I shared with them and I wanted to express it. They kept leaking on me from their eyes and it only encouraged me more. I also decided to start rolling over on my back and letting them rub my belly, which I never really wanted before I started feeling all fluttery in my heart. The vet said I have a really BIG heart and Mommy and Daddy agreed, but it didn't sound like a good thing for some reason.
My last trip to the vet I was anxious, but I have to say the passing was easier than I would have imagined...at least for me. I know it was painful for Mommy and Daddy because they hugged each other and cried. My last vision was of my Daddy looking at me and Mommy had her hand on my side. Then everything just kind of faded and I gave in to the rest that I so deeply wanted.
Mommy had this lady come in today with two carriers...and what looked like my cousins were inside! They're staying in the 2nd bedroom for now... I am waiting for an opportune moment to pop in on them. I just know Mommy or Daddy will slip up and not notice me and I can sail into the room and take complete stock of the situation! I can hardly wait!
Whatever it is, we sure took a long drive here today! But now I am enjoying my Daddy's warmth as he scritches me behind my ear....Purrrrr purrrrr! This place is pretty cool -- they opened an umbrella just for me to lay under!! And Mommy and Daddy brought our beds and scratchy posts and a few toys too. What's also cool is they brought our water fountain too. It's like home away from home!
When we first arrived, I didn't want to come out of my carrier. I was just so unsure what awaited me out there! Mommy had to scoot me out. I immediately had to check the whole place out...it took a few hours to sniff everything. My sister Perri was hiding under the bed for awhile...I don't know why she was so nervous. But, now she has had time to adjust and snoop around with me and she's relaxed enough to update her diary (she's a star today!) and lay up against Mommy as she types this for me. (Thanks, Mommy!)
