Leave a treat for Heywood (a memorial) 1999-2004

Heywood the Fat Cat; Heywood the cat-cat

Quick Bio:
-mixed breed

He loved his kitty treats, his family, scratching the furniture, belly rubs, and sleeping on the bed between my feet.

The vacuum cleaner, cell phones, outside (he was terrified of it), and strangers

Favorite Toy:
his kids, shadows

Favorite Nap Spot:
curled up on my feet or in his rocking chair

Favorite Food:
milk, tuna

He thought he was a human. He could jump up in the air and catch flies as a kitten, and every night he would go to each of the kids' rooms and check on them before going to sleep. He would also sit at the door and howl if the kids went outside.

Arrival Story:
We got Heywood as a kitten only a few weeks old from my parent's farm. He was born in April of 1999. He made 3 different moves with us to new homes, and we planned on keeping him forever.

Heywood was truly one-in-a-million. We've never had a cat like him. He would sit at the window and howl when the kids went outside, he curled up on my feet and followed me everywhere. He loved to sit on the edge of the tub when you took a bath, and couldn't stand to be away from us. Heywood had to be put to sleep on August 6, 2004, when he suffered a blockage of the urethra that couldn't be treated in time. We lost him in a matter of 2 days. Please watch your male neutered/un-neutered cats closely. He was much beloved and we all miss him terribly.

It's been just over a year now since you've been gone, Heywood. We still miss you. Sometimes I will turn around and call you and not even think about it.

I miss having you sleep on my feet, or follow me into the bathroom to sit and keep me company. I miss burying my face in your fur.

The kids miss you - your name comes up and it's as if we just lost you all over again. Poor Jazz gets called Heywood an awful lot.

You would have had a great time with Casey, and in our new house. There are windows you would have loved to sleep in, and lots of places to explore. You and Casey would have had a great time playing together.

We love you, Heywood...we always will. We hope you're having fun wherever you are.
