Hello, Iz Fans
The girls and I know something is up. The stress level around here is getting pretty intense. Mom keeps talking about when she's something called "laid up". I dunno. I always "lay down." But you know hoomins.
I know Mom has been having a LOT of trouble getting around for the past 7 months or so. She went to the doctor and she said it was "just arthritis", but then it got to the point where Mom couldn't get up and down the steps outside very well. She got kinda mad at the first doctor and went to another one. He told her she has degenerative joint disease and that, for the most part, her right hip joint is just bone on bone. So she told me the doctor is going to fix her hip the Monday after Easter. I guess he's going to give her a new one. She was at Wal-mart the other day. Don't know why she couldn't just get one there...
Mom says she's going to be getting around kinda slow for a few weeks, using something called a "walker". She said, "I will try to avoid your tail and paws, Iz, but you are going to have to help by not getting under my feet." She told dad that we cats are the least of her problems, that Dad can just pick up the litter boxes and put them on a table and mom will clean them. Yeah, we need clean boxes or Delilah used the bath tub. Mom says that getting the doggie sisfurs in and out is going to be the worst. They don't "go" for Dad, I guess. Mom always takes them out. Dad never has. Mom has come up with some fencing around our bushes and over the deck railing so that she can just hook the doggie sisfurs up and let them go. We can't have that good electric fence in our neighborhood, it's not allowed and mom says THAT is a pain in the you know where. Mom says she doesn't want to take a chance on one of the dogs pulling her down the steps, especially since we've had a lot of wildlife down at the lake by our house--fox, heron, swans, geese, ducks...Mom says her biggest fear is dislocating her new hip and by the dogs pulling her down the steps, that could happen. Silly Doggie Sisfurs. Cats are SOOOOOO much better!!!
We are going to do everything in our power to make mom feel brand new as soon as possible. I might even stop hunting bed mice although that will be difficult. We'll be sleeping with mom, I'm pretty sure. She said she's moving into the spare bed for a while. I've been helpful so far. When mom's leg aches, I lay on it like what she called "a cute little heating pad that purrs." Well, I do what I can.
So, if you get a chance, would you please send up a prayer for our mom? She sure would appreciate it.
Thanks, and Happy Easter from me and the rest of the Gang here at "The Zoo".
Izadore

Apparently the purrs are good too, something to do with a healing vibration, Be a good kitty and keep doing it purrs Sam.
