Arrival Story: One day 2 kittens (2 - 3 months old) showed up at our house out of nowhere. The larger kitten was very friendly, but the little one was very afraid and wouldn't come near us, even to eat. The resident kitty, Chai, was not too happy about this and since we were living in a 2 room studio with one cat and 2 part-time kids we decided not to keep them. We couldn't catch the little one, so we took the larger one to Animal Control and followed his progress to make sure he got adopted. The little one kept hanging around (no big surprise since I was feeding her) despite Chai's attempts to run her off! Finally it was time to get her spayed so I caught her (no easy task) and took her in to Pets Unlimited. When she came back she needed to stay inside for 2 weeks and from that point on she was our second cat. We've moved to a bigger house where there is plenty of room for everyone and Little Bit is a full-fledged and much beloved member of our family. Even Chai loves her!
Bio: Little Bit is the funniest little cat! Once in a while she meows very softly, but most of the time she makes the cutest little trilling and whirring sounds. She is such a happy little girl and so darn cute.
She loves to play and be chased. Chai is her first choice as a playmate, but Mom is OK too! Anything that moves is worth playing with in Little Bit's world.
For the first year we owned her, visitors to our house never saw her. Now when we have guests she interacts with them and sometimes even "flirts" by rolling around on the floor in front of them. Occasionally she will let first-time visitors pet her or give her a cheek rub! She is still skittish about noises and sudden movements, but she has made incredible progress in her social skills.
Update 11/08: Little Bit now has a tabby sister. It took some time to adjust, but now they romp around and enjoy playing together.
Lives Remaining: 9 of 9

You're not going to believe this but my dad is growing pineapples in our backyard! Now I guess that wouldn't be so unusual if we lived in Hawaii but we live in San Furancisco!!
You see my dad loves fresh pineapple. He orders it from Maui cuz he thinks Hawaiian pineapple tastes the absolute best - much better than the ones from Costa Rica and genuine Hawaiian pineapple is hard to find here on the mainland.
Recently he saved up a few pineapple tops and planted them in the backyard by my raspberry bushes. Of course I have inspected them thoroughly and added a little of my special fertilizer too (giggles).
Every afternoon Gma waters the back yard and I help her then she gives me some ham!
During the week in the evening when Mom gets home, Gma comes upstairs with her and gives me my treat while Mom gives Chai and Sugar Bear theirs.
On the weekends Gma comes upstiars and watches a movie with Mom and I help her crotchet - we've made 3 blankies that we are going to donate to the SF SPCA. Then I get so tired I fall asleep nestled up next to her and sometimes I get on her lap.
Now don't tell my sisfurs but **whispers** I think I'm her favorite!!
For a long time I couldn't understand why humans were puzzled about how they got picked by us - how we know which doorstep to go to, or which human to purr with and brush up against. Then I realized that they don't know that they are wearing a sign.
When I was just a very tiny kitten my brofur Alfred and I got taken to a place we'd never seen before. There were lots of houses, cars and trees and I was very scared. Alfred was bigger than me and he said, "Let's get away from the street" and I followed him down some stairs by the side of one of the houses.
After a while a lady came out the door of the downstairs part of the house and I said, "Alfred, look it's her!" Alfred said, "What do you mean?"
"Don't you see the sign over her heart? It says I'm Your Human." Alfred shook his head and said "No". "But's it right there above her heart! Are you sure you don't see it?" I said.
Alfred blinked his eyes and looked really hard and said, "No, I don't see it".
Well now I know why Alfred didn't see the sign. You see humans wear these signs but only us animals can see them. And not every animal can see them - only the animals that own that human. So since Mom was my human but not Alfred's he couldn't see the sign. Fortunately Alfred went to the SPCA where he did find his human and I stayed at this new place where I had found mine.
Sugar Bear told me that she was at the SPCA for 6 months before she saw the sign. Day after day, humans would pass by her condo and she would look at them but they weren't wearing the sign. Then one day Mom walked by and she instantly saw it. She ran over to the door and started meowing. Mom looked down and saw her and laughed, then went in her condo and Sugar came home with her.
Chai also saw Mom wearing the I'm Your Human sign when she was at the SPCA. Lucky for her - she was only there for a week!
For Christmas I'm wishing that all of the animals in the world who haven't found their human will find them. Just keep looking for the sign. And if you are an animal that can't see don't worry - you will hear a voice whispering in your ear, "I'm Your Human."
