When Mom left for work this morning the three of us were in the living room -- Little Bit on the widow perch, Sugar Bear on the sofa and me on the ottoman. Before leaving for work, she stood and watched us for a few minutes, just feeling grateful that we are all safe, warm, loved and protected.
We had a wonderful holiday season at our house this year. It was particularly happy for Mom and Dad as this was their first married Christmas. We had lots of people over and it was very festive. We got so many cards and gifts from our dear Catster friends from close and far away and it reminds us of how lucky we are to be part of this community.
But some sadness touched our lives this holiday. One of Little Bit's BFFs, Baby Girl, had to share the bad news that her little brofur Zipper went to the bridge after being hit by a car. Sugar Bear's sweet godkitty Chance's family was adopting Eve, a precious little blind kitty, and she went to the bridge before she could join them. And my brofur-in-law, Mittens, went to the bridge right at Christmas time. Our purrs go out to all of these families right now as they cope with the loss of a beloved family member.
Mom had quite the day volunteering for the SF SPCA yesterday!
Of course she feel in love with the adorable kittens and wanted to bring all of them home! But we are still a family of 3 felines MOL.
At least one kitten did get adopted and there are 2 others who are maybe's along with an adorable doggie who has a "meet and greet" today.
Mom and her co-workers raised lots of money for the SF SPCA too. She said people were very generous and she really enjoyed hearing their stories. So many people told her about their pets and many of them like Sugar and me came from the SF SPCA.
And while Mom was there she saw Guido's Mom - what a fun coincidence that was!
When Mom got home she was pretty tired. She is not used to being on her feet all day so Dad built a fire and we all hung out in the living room enjoying it. I was laying on my Christmas blanket on the ottoman, Sugar was on the back of the sofa just above Mom, and Little Bit curled up on Mom's tummy for a little nap. The tree lights were on and it was very cozy. Dad even gave Mom a foot massage!!
Mom said it was just a purrtastic event and she will definitely do it again next year. Here is a link to an article about the holiday windows - it is an annual event and if you are ever in San Francisco between Thanksgiving and New Year's you won't want to miss it!
