Arrival Story:
We adopted him from a local shelter when he was 4 months old. He and his siblings were rescued as kittens from a parking lot where they were living with their feral mother - amazing they made it through the cold. We thought our other cat, Rufus, would like a companion - one who wouldn't steal his spotlight or laptime - so Rico, a shy, semi-feral kitten who needed some socialiazation, sounded perfect.

Bio:
He and his siblings were semi feral themselves and it took awhile for him to learn to trust us. He spent the first week hiding behind the toilet in the bathroom, trembling. Every sound terrified him. Fortunately for us, he was incredibly curious and could not resist feathers and string and things that moved. He also LOVES to eat, so we were able to lure him out with toys and baby food. Eventually we got him to come up onto our lap / legs to lick the baby food from our fingers. Once we had him there we could pet him - you could do anything as long as there was food in front of him! He soon learned how wonderful petting is, and to see him now you'd never believe that he was once a scrawny, scared little guy! Now he rolls over to have his belly rubbed, lets me hold him like a baby, and loves to sleep at the end of the bed!

If Rico wore a costume...:
If Rico wore a hat, it would definitely be one of those twirly "helicopter" hats like Tweedledum and Tweedledee wore (I think!)...and maybe a cape too.
