Hi everyone,
I'm here to tell you that the life of a show cat may SEEM glam, but it's WORK!!!!!
My first trip was on a plane with my breeder. We flew from Boston to Houston. There I met lots of nice people who naturally thought I was beautiful, & that I had a wonderful career ahead of me. I was 12 weeks old. 12-16 weeks is prime time for a kitten to leave her Mom & siblings, no younger because that's just plain unhealthy. Anyway, I met Auntie Marguerite, & her daughter Barbara, & we drove from Texas back to Florida, where I got to meet my Mom for the first time! When I got to my new home, it was kind of scary at first, especially because I'd never seen a DOG before, & when I met Sebastian, my Mom & new family thought it was hilarious to see little old me all puffed up. There's a picture of that in my photo album.
Shortly after, I started going to my first shows, where I did well, had fun, & learned what being a show kitty was all about.
When I turned 8 months old, I was considered a grown up girl, entered my first show as an adult, & came home as a new Champion!
I will be 2 the end of March, & I JUST completed my Grand Champion title at our local show here right after New Year's!!!!!
I had to earn 200 points, by winning over 200 OTHER Champion cats of all breeds, & that is TOUGH!!!!!
My whole family was SO happy for me, & so proud of me!!!!
Now that I am a Grand Champion, I have a couple of options open to me. I can either be bred to a really handsome boy Mom knows of & I can be a Mom to my own kittens, or my Mom can send me to some other shows in a different show association with the friend of hers that owns the boy I'm supposed to have a date with, & I can try to earn the highest titles those associations offer. OR, I can have kittens first, & then go back out to show. The last option is the one I like the best, because I'm old enough now for my own babies, but I really DO love the life of the show girl!
