Hi, I don't write in my diary very often but yesterday evening something happened that scared us all. Our house is built on the hillside and we have a lower level which is what they call a daylight basement. I like to go down there and poke around and look out the windows into the woods to watch the wildlife. The door is kept closed usually so it's not often that I get there. Mum had opened one of the windows down there to let in the fresh air and the screen was in place. At 5 pm Misu and I were in the kitchen yowling for our canned food. Soon after dad went down stairs to get something and I slipped down there without anyone knowing. After dad and mum had dinner Misu was laying on mum in her usual spot on the couch but I wasn't there. The pawrents just assumed I was in my bed having a nap.

A couple of hours went by and and mum started to be concerned and went looking for me. I was nowhere to be found. The house was searched. Even Misu was looking under beds and in closets for me. Finally, mum opened the basement door and went down. She called me and heard a plaintiff howl from somewhere. She kept calling and I kept yowling. The closets where all searched - no Thai Pie !!! Finally she looked over to the open window and there was no screen there- Yikes !!!!!

She hurried out the sliding door into the woods where she could hear me but couldn't find me. It was getting dark. Following the sound of the yowls she finally found me under a bush shaking and crying and totally petrified with fear. I crawled out to her on my tummy - I was even afraid of her. The window screen was laying on the back lawn under the window. I don't have any idea how this happened but mum and dad suspect that I jumped on the window sill, hit the screen which dislodged it and screen and I ended up in the woods. I think I was there for 2 or 3 hours and didn't know how to get back inside again. Well all's well that ends well and I got cuddled and kissed and loved on until I stopped crying and shaking. Wow am I glad that I got found I might have been a coyote's dinner !!!!

OMC! So glad you are OK!
When we were about a year or two, we both slipped out the front door which had been cracked open for the dog, and we had nevfur shown interest in going out...so that night meowmy shut the door..and the next morning we were not there to greet her:( She put 2 & 2 together, and found both of us huddled under a shrub in the garden...at least it had been a balmy night! Minko has not learned his lesson too well, cause now sometimes he tries to get out from the soon after installed doggy doors...

Hi Pipo and Minko,

The window is shut up tight now and dad repaired the screen which was not properly in it's track. I never want to go down in those woods again.

OMC Thai...

How scarey for you...I am so thankful you are safe and back inside where you belong...dumb old screen was not suopposed to get off its track...Not your fault...never your fault...It is a cruel world out there....

How scary!! We are so glad you were found and are safe inside again! I dart outside every now and then when a door is opened, get scared, and run for my family when they try to help me back inside. One time, I made it into our woods and Granddad had to follow my meows to find me, too! Stay safe, Thai Pie!!

We had no idea this happened to you, sweetest Thai Pie. We're so sorry you were so scared, mommy has tears in her eyes thinking about the panic you must have felt and how worried your pawrents must have been when they couldn't find you. Thank the cat gods everything turned out well - you had angels watching over you, dear friend.

I nefur heard about your big adventure this Summer until now...I am so happy that you were found, and that you are safe inside again where you belong! Whew! You COULD have been a coyotes lunch! You poor girl, being so scared of the big outdoors...it must have been terrible. Thank God you were found when you were! It's great that your dad fixed the screen so this doesn't happen again. Stay safe dear Thai Pie...we wouldn't know what to do if something should happen to you! Sooks and I will keep a close eye on you and Misu...
