Arrival Story:
Sunset was a rescue baby. She lived out of the city. The next door neighbour saw that she was pregnant again - for the 4th time! She catnapped her and brought her to her friend who rescued abandoned/mistreated cats. She was spayed and ready for adoption. This was the start of her new life!

Sunset had been at the no-kill shelter for a month when I called to see if they had a Tortie girl! They had one! I made an appointment to go and visit her. She was the ugliest cat I had ever since! Bowed legs, short legs, fur was dull and sparse.... but she had the most beautiful light green eyes. I spent time with her and then went around to visit the other cats. I was there for 2 hours getting information on different cats, asking questions, petting all who wanted to be petted. I left the shelter and went home to my beautiful Abyssinian, Cinnamon, who had never in his short life experienced starvation, neglect, rejection, abuse.... I cried for so long for all those poor cats who had had a rough life. A list of 25 cats is what I was looking at! I wanted them all, yet I knew I couldn't. Finally, I decided, that Tortie girl is the one I went to see and she is the one that will come home with me. Called the shelter and advised them that I wanted to adopt her. The following week off I went to pick her up. Sadly that is when I found out what she had gone through. She had been beaten, abused, malnourished and was an outdoor kitty for the first 3 years of her life. Well, now she had a new life, I gave her her new name Midnight Sunset because of her colors, a new birthday, new home and a new Mommy! Sunset adored her cat condo which I had positioned beside the window for her to look outside at the birds. She never asked to go out, she was content in being an indoor kitty. She ate and ate and ate - afraid that she wouldn't have a next meal! Finally after 6 months she realized that the food would always be there. She was terrified of sudden movements, i.e. my hand lifting to touch my face/hair, anything that looked like a broom, small room (bathrooms)! She would run and hide for hours thinking that I would come after her. Gradually she would run and hide but come out after a short while, then finally after 2 years she never ran away again when I lifted my hand/arm or made sudden moves. She finally trusted me! Every day from the first day that I took her home - every time she looked at me I would say: "Mommy loves you, Sunset! Pretty Girl" I never missed a day in the 11 1/2 years I had here. Sometimes she would reply in her soft velvet voice. She never was a naughty kitty, she was quiet, loving, always there beside me on the bed, she spent her days on her cat condo and looked outside. She was the sweetest, loving, softest most adorable girl. She never asked for anything, just wanted to be loved, accepted, adored, kisses, cuddled and cherished. I miss her soooooo much it hurts! Sunset went over the Rainbow Bridge on January 26, 2004 at the age of 14 1/2 years young. She is dearly missed and will never, never be forgotten.

Wow! Thank you Catster for making me kitty of the Day! I am very honoured and pleased!

Sometimes when Mom is sad I visit her through her dreams - that is what I did last night! We spent time together! It was nice to be held again in her arms, her kisses were as sweet as I remember, her voice was the sound of music....

Eventhough I am happy here, I miss her terribly! No I haven't forgotten, I also miss all my kitty friends at home.

I love you Mommy.............

Your sweet little Sunset

January 26, 2005

Today marks 1 year that my beautiful little girl, Midnight Sunset, went over the Rainbow Bridge.

There is a void in my life since you have left me that can never been filled. I miss you so much pumpkin.

Sending you angel kisses and hugs.

Hi, Mommy! How are you?

I am writing today, as I know you are sad, just to say that I love you and never will forget your soft touch, big kisses that you use to give to me all the time.

I do watch over you every day and feel your love and sadness when you see my pictures . I miss you terribly, Mommy!

Don't worry about me, I have lots of friends here that play with me. We chase butterflies, dragonflies, watch over our loved ones we have left behind.

I touch your face when you are sleeping and wish I could be there beside your pillow purring you to sleep.

Take care, love
