Leave a treat for Nala (in loving memory)

Nicknames: Naaaaah, Nana

Quick Bio:
 Likes: Heat, Sunbeams

Pet-Peeves: Cold, irritating dogs

Favorite Nap Spot: Under the covers with a human

Skills: Nala "barked" at the doorbell or intruders in the yard if the dogs weren't home to do it. She also loved to go for walks on her leash, and would stand and beg to have her harness put on so she could go outside!

Dwells:
indoors

Arrival Story: Nala was one of a litter of kittens seized by the humane society. She was 2 weeks only and didn't have her eyes open yet when I brought her, her mother, and her brother & sister home to "foster." The other cats got homes, but Nala was so personable that she had to stay! We bonded hard & fast, as Siamese do. Nala was my constant companion, and slept under the covers with me every night. She was convinced that she would be a dog when she grew up.

Bio: Nala was diagnosed with mediasteinal lymphoma when she was only 18 months old. It was likely a heritable condition. She went through 9 months of sucessful chemotherapy, but the chemo drugs made her very ill, so we stopped treatments prematurely. Happily, the lymphoma never came back, and she lived another healthy 6 years before she was diagnosed with another type of cancer on her tongue: invasive salivary adenocarcinoma. There was no humane, effective treatment, so Nala hung in there until it was too aiinful for her to eat. Nala was put to sleep in March, 2004. We miss her dearly, she is always in our hearts.
