Arrival Story:
Years ago I went looking for a cat and visited the local Humane Society in San Diego. We found Isis, whose name was then 'Angel' -- it didn't suit her at all. She has always had a strong dislike of other cats, and the shelter workers were concerned about her because when they'd received her two weeks ago she had refused to eat, and still hadn't eaten anything that they'd seen while she was with them. Her former people had picked her up as a kitten but then gotten rid of her when they moved into an apartment that didn't take cats. She was emaciated when we found her -- very sweet and friendly, if shy, but painfully thin, with her ribs jutting out. I took her home and she proceeded to hide under the bed for two days. With coaxing she eventually came out and started to eat. She hasn't stopped since! Now she is queen of the house, not nearly as shy, and likes to sleep on her back in the middle of the carpet.

Bio:
Isis loves cheetos. She will beg for food from anyone, but if you have a cheeto, watch out! Once she also stole an entire pork chop from the kitchen table after the humans had had dinner. She works in concert with the dog, Cocoa, to get to food or to dig in the trash. When she took the pork chop, she carried it off the table, out of the kitchen, down the hall, and into my bedroom. (Keep in mind that this chop weighed maybe a quarter of Isis's total bodyweight -- it was big). I found it later that night, in the dark, with my bare foot, as I walked into my room. It was riddled with cat tooth marks, but she hadn't been able to get any real meat off of it as it was too tough and had gotten cold after she stole it.
