Arrival Story:
I adopted him and Richard from a litter of an acquaintance. All were named for talk show hosts. Harry had been named "Montel Williams" by the children of the acquaintance, but I waited until he told me his true name. (We had a little help from Harry Truman's biographer, David McCullough.)

Harry is a skittish boy; he is easily frightened and loathes loud noises and strange people coming at him too fast. He lost one of his lives several years ago when he slipped out. I was in a cast and couldn't chase him. The well-meaning apartment manager went after him, but Harry was so frightened of him that he just ran -- to the top of the four-story apartment building and OFF! He hit a tree with his face and fell to the concrete walk below. The manager brought him to me. We went to the vet; x-rays revealed that nothing was broken or damaged inside. After a night on fluids and a sedative, Harry was as good as new. He and his littermate, Richard, traveled across the United States in 2000, from California to Virginia, in the back of a Toyota. They hated it. They made my mother-in-law, who claims to dislike cats, show her true colors. Such good boys.
