Favorite Nap Spot: Anywhere that there is a sunbeam!

Favorite Food: She has to eat Science Diet k/d because of renal failure, but she loves her nightly snack of the science diet hairball light food.

Arrival Story: I was ten years old when my Lucky came into my life. Somebody that my dad worked with had found this tiny little kitten in her yard, and her cats were attacking it. She brought it into work, hoping someone there would take it home, but nobody volunteered. My brother and I were dying for a cat, but Mom didn't like cats at all. In his version, he called home ten times that day and she never picked up. In her version, she was home all day and the phone never rang. I'm not getting involved in that discussion. ;) At any rate, he brings home this tiny little 4-week-old kitten, not weaned, half-starved, and very dehydrated. He hands it to me, his ten-year-old daughter first, then goes to find Mom. The gist of what he told her, as I understand it, was that this kitten had no home and would probably be put down if it went to the pound. Mom told me I had to name it Lucky because it was lucky that my dad has such a soft heart!

Bio: Lucky is amazingly healthy for her age. She is 15 years old this spring. She is showing the early stages of renal failure and has FIV ("kitty aids") but is in great shape for all of that. However, because of the FIV, she had to change from being a primarily outdoor kitty to being an indoor-only kitty. There is no reliable vaccine, no treatment, and no cure for FIV. Please get your cats tested, and keep any FIV+ cats inside! :)
